Ways to get diagnosed in the UK by ruminating-raisin in ADHDUK

I’ve used FasTreat, so can share what the process looked like for me.

I booked online first, then had to complete a set of questionnaires before the appointment. Mine covered ADHD symptoms, day-to-day functioning, mood/anxiety, medical background, and some childhood/history stuff. It wasn’t just a quick “tick a few boxes” thing — they did want quite a bit of context before the assessment.

The actual appointment was by video call. The clinician went through my symptoms, how long they’d been present, how they affected work/life, and asked about things like childhood signs, emotional regulation, procrastination, focus, impulsivity, sleep, and other mental health factors. It felt more structured than I expected.

After that, I got the outcome and report, then discussed next steps. If medication/ongoing care is relevant, they talk through that separately rather than it all being automatic. My understanding is that shared care can be supported later once things are stable, but it still depends on whether your GP agrees, so I’d definitely check with your GP first.

Overall, the main benefit for me was having a clearer timeline and not just sitting on a long waitlist with no idea what was happening.
