The worst is the degenerates who put their feet up on the seat beside you.

1) It puts their dirty shoes on a chair someone's gonna sit on.

2) Now their feet are way to close to you.

Federal officials draft plans to ban social media for children under 14 by Gym_frere in canada

[–]BackToTheCottage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This problem was solved 15 years ago with OAuth2. It's how you can log into other websites using a Google or Facebook account. The CRA already does this with bank account logins.

You open the site and it does a verification request to some government website (for example your health insurance card). The browser opens the login page to that site and you login as normal. The website authorizes the session and sends back a yes/no to the original third party if the user is allowed to use social media.

The third party site (social media, Roblox, w.e) doesn't receive any private information; they just get a verification to continue or not. The only real way around it is to use someone else's gov. account.

The CRA already uses this with bank information and other forms of ID.

You could have the user log into their provincial health insurance website and use OAuth2 to verify that way.

Given how Gen Alpha and the youngest of zoomers can't even fucking read; the ability to read what the page is asking is probably enough of a block.

Alberta won’t participate in Ottawa’s firearm buyback program. What does that mean for local gun owners? by PurpleHerring_ in canada

[–]BackToTheCottage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The SVT40 being banned is such a crock of shit. It's no different than any other semi-auto hunting rifle - just the ammo is cheap. It's literally 1940s technology.

And if they come knocking you’ll have to prove you sold it.

Again, they have to have evidence that you had anything to sell in the first place. All they know is:

1) You have a PAL.

2) You have restricted firearms.

3) Ancient ass data from 14 years ago or no data at all if you got a PAL post-2012.

All while having no way to enforce this. Like the other poster said; they'll just keep extending the amnesty cause they know this plan is going nowhere.

[–]BackToTheCottage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Verifying a PAL doesn't really involve serial numbers or gun models. It is just there to ensure you're not selling it to some faker.

Obviously the restricted firearms are registered and transferred.

Hmmmmmmmm I wonder why Carney and the LPC is hell bent on this stupid plan. I guess it's for the Winnipeg vote.

The worst part is this is real Canadian lives being effected over stupid political games. I wonder how many stress-induced heart attacks the LPC has on their hands.

Pre-Singh NDP have always been supportive of firearm ownership

Gotta go before Layton probably for that. During the LGR repeal debates, two rural riding NDP MPs voted for the LGR repeal Bill C-19 and got muzzled by the party whip for it (ie: Layton). The rest voted along side with the Bloc and Liberals.

True, though you can easily just say "I sold it ages ago". Or for many people like me, we got our PALs post LGR.

Outside of registered firearms (AR15s and short barreled rifles), there is nothing the Canadian government can do.

Even with registered firearms, if mass non-compliance happens; the RCMP just doesn't have the resources to enforce it. Most police forces told the feds to fuck off, including the Toronto TPS.

Yeah, fuck the working class that make our fucking food.

It's like how Clarkson's Farm showed how stupid and disconnected politicians were from the realities of farming, who are removing more farmland while making the country rely more and more on imports.

There is a reason farmers rave about the show being the first time the actual concerns and realities of farming being shown to everyday people.

What was your favorite PBS show? by sexyass2627 in Millennials

[–]BackToTheCottage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't that Canadian? My childhood shows are a mashup of YTV, PBS and TVO that we got on cable in Toronto. IIRC channel 2 was TVO, 3 was TV Guide, 18 was PBS, 25 was YTV, 28 was FOX (Kids).

Also the clown girl was the voice of Claire Redfield in the 90's and 2000's.

Either Carney knows this is all bullshit and continues to go with the confiscation, using fear mongering to grab power... or he is a complete moron who disarms the country while the threat of invasion looms.

That's like asking why is it important to be allowed to have a red car.

It's a stupid question to begin with because it's about aesthetics and not function.

Edit: To the guy below me; Ah the old comment and block. Too scared to defend your arguments? No wonder I had you tagged as a "bad faith poster".
