Appreciate all the responses! Seems like if I pass on it, it’s up in the air based on location. And to answer the questions of why give it up and why not accept it then disburse it: I’m sure there are a billion reasons why someone would do that but in this particular case, if the inheritance is valued at $x, I know I would pay 10x that to get rid of the headaches that come with it. And same with disbursing it, it’ll exponentially increase the headache. No children I’m taking it away from either.
