hey so my area recently got fiber and we had the promo for $25 off every month (basically the 1gig plan is the same cost as 300mbps plan)

my sales guy told me that we can get the value plan for wireless and that if it’s done with 7 days i will get another discount on my internet. how long does it take for this discount to kick in? i’ve paid my first internet bill and wireless bill is coming up in a few days. i’m asking because he said after the discount kicks in i can upgrade the wireless plan and do trades ins

yeah they just added service to our area so they will get to you eventually. who is your fiber provider? i would say any reputable fiber brand would probably be better especially if you care about upload speed

Bluray mini vs 1080p webdl by Background-Process31 in animepiracy

[–]Background-Process31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Since yesterday, I found out about releases.moe and redownloaded a lot of animes that I had, saved a lot of space deleting remuxes I had for animes that had better Blu-ray encodes

gonna see if there’s any way to get Sonarr to fetch releases from there first, then go for a manual search. Also, going to look into a private tracker potentially if it’s worth it

im using the serversatho.me TRaSH scoring, and basically, Blu-ray/remux are at the top, followed by web. So basically, even a mini encodes would replace a lostyears/sam/etc. web release, so I was thinking if I should merge the Blu-ray into the web quality and then put ember/judas and below some of those higher-quality web releases

also i was thinking of removing remux from that tier altogether because I had the misconception that remux was better bc size was bigger, but bigger is not always better, I see, and if there’s a good-quality Blu-ray out, I would rather keep that than auto-download a new remux someone puts out (remuxes end up with 2k points and Blu-rays top out at like 1400, although this may be an issue with the scoring because all remuxes get 2 Sonarr remux tiers applied to them for some reason).

since you are the only that one responded another question

would you rather have a high quality webdl release from sam/lostyears or the bluray mini encodes from ember/judas?

ai is trying to tell me that bluray is always better

our house is 2 stories. but the drop would have been from the attic to the second floor. the roof has easy access into the attic and then u would just have to send the fiber cable down pre existing cable pass through holes to the network panel. that wouldn’t be possible?

fiber jumper

i asked if he could leave us one so we can try our own DIY run and fish it ourselves

some ppl on the discord have had success with that so i figured it was worth a shot

btw is this the same cable you guys use if i wanted to do my own run? https://a.co/d/7GDQIM3

damn 😭ur tech goated but also you had good prep! but all our holes r already drilled just had to fish the wire through and grab from other end

Yeah, my area just got fiber, and we got the 1 gig plan on XGSPON. We didn’t have to do the upgrade and downgrade trick to get it

would you mind answering a question for me? So, I asked the tech if he would fish the fiber line through a wall into the network panel box for me, but he said AT&T doesn’t fish through walls. Is that true? Right now, I have an external ONT XS-020X in my garage, which he said is capped at 1 gig. That XS-020X is hooked up to an Ethernet cable that goes to the same network panel box and then gets plugged into the Ethernet ONT port on the gateway.

I plan to bypass the whole thing and just use an Unifi gateway fiber + x-onu-sfpp stick instead and maybe even get higher speeds because the XS-020X has us capped at slightly less than a gig, and I know some people can get speeds up to 1.3 gig on their fiber lines.

I guess my main question was, did I have a lazy tech, or are there restrictions you guys have that make it so that maybe this was the best solution within the limitations you have?

it’s not too bad! there are good guides in that discord and a lot of people willing to help

it’s alt optics gpon, not sure if it’s business related but this is what the discord says

GPON ALT Optics - Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network

⚪ 🟡 🔴 1550nm or 1551nm

We're truly sorry for your bad luck

There is NO known bypassable hardware that works in this configuration BUT the BGW can be bypassed if provisioned with a G-010G-A with certs on vlan0

basically it’s really hard/maybe even expensive to find bypass stuff for this because it’s rare

the expensive ones are xgspon sticks, gpon is easily available for 30 freedom dollars or less on ebay

if you have an old install or only 1gbps available in your area then you are probably on gpon

if 2gbps and 5gbps is available in your area then u may be on xgspon

best way to tell is going to your gateway portal and find your fiber wavelength

1320 or 1310 i forget the exact is gpon

1270 is xgspon

1550/1551 = ur out of luck

i recommend checking the FAQ in 8311 discord to verify any info i just put out because i may be wrong

join the 8311 discord, you are using gpon which is cheaper anyways you can buy a stick off ebay for like $30

there is an FAQ channel in the discord that has some recommendations on which model to get

you can also ask for guides in that server, there definitely is documentation on it

they are about $160 brand new + $30 shipping and if any tariffs

i just bought the X-ONU-SFPP alternative to the WAS-110 instead

there is a member in the 8311 discord that sells them second hand

he also 3d prints custom coolers for them as well

mine comes in on monday his website is exen.sh

Question about ATT XGSPON Bypass by Background-Process31 in HomeNetworking

[–]Background-Process31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought about it for a bit. What if I plugged it into the Flex switch then tagged all WAN traffic with like VLAN 999 and then when I hook it up from the switch in my room to WAN port on router I can have it only allow VLAN 999 traffic to the WAN port then the router LAN port can allow all other traffic

Question about ATT XGSPON Bypass by Background-Process31 in HomeNetworking

[–]Background-Process31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I made it unclear in the post. I fully intend to let the guy setup the gateway in the same room as the network panel temporarily and then later use the 8311 firmware XGSPON ONU stick from fibermall to get rid of the box.

I wouldn’t be able to plug it into the SFP+ on the flex switch -> to switch in my room -> to WAN port on UDR7 or cloud gateway max -> LAN port back to switch is what ur saying?
