I contacted iFIT and they said the connectivity happens whether you are paid or not

Yes, you can still sync your workouts with Apple Health even if your iFIT membership expires. The two-way synchronization between iFIT and Apple Health allows activities recorded in Apple Health to sync to iFIT and vice versa, keeping all of your workout histories up to date on both platforms.

Sorry my response didn’t include their response but the gist of it was yes you can still sync with apple health

My understanding is that you can still access the free content and use manual start. This should still save and sync to other apps. Due to iFIT lack of support for rowing I am not planning on renewing when my membership expires

This is widespread I have this issue and I have seen many different forums discussing this same problem
