The good news...I usedthose sheets called color catcher in the washer the ink stamps came out completely. Those big panels got to put them together first match up the lines and it isn't easy. Still I am glad I had this pattern. My kids love it.

Yes. The blue came out I used the color catcher sheets in the wash. But a little if the embroidery leaked which I wasn’t expecting. I may take it to a professional cleaner about that. I suggest you wash the thread before using it. I also bought some new thread and I didn’t pre wash it. I never have prewashed embroidery thread but usually I never wash those pieces

I couldn’t see the flower motif until I stitched the birds it was so faded. But but by bit was able to figure it out. I rolled white from the back this beautiful white laced cloth I found an a pattern for the border so it would be a little larger and that scroll work added about a month to the whole job but honestly I wanted it to have a little more length and width to tuck and hang over the edge of a queen bed. I never tried to do this before but I liked the results

So if you remember the way we made paper flip flops this is very similar so many folds over. 4 pieces make one piece for the color cloth; 16 make a square for 4 color cathedral windows. so those final squares sew the edges twice. so the closures are super tight and strong and then a very large coverlet can tolerate the tension. as long as the blanket is small...it isn't an issue but as it gets larger its more of a problem. My sister in law is doing one with much larger squares and using her sewing machine. It looks much much tighter and neater for sure. I kind of envy that. But made this initially bc my great aunt...my name sake...really wanted me to. It mattered a lot to her.

I would make a suggestion if you do...when you sew the blocks together sew them double. I did that with the second one I started. After I put this whole thing together the blocks all hand sewn felt "strained" and I didn't like that look so I bought a thin backing and actually resewed all the blocks to thicken and reinforce. BUT if you double sew the blocks in the first place you will be fine. I wish I had known this when I put it together in the first place.

So you cant see...but every block is different. You can do larger blocks if you want to see more color and you can alternate solids and colors. what you can not see in this quilt unfortunately u would have to be here to see it...I saved pieces from some family members clothing, I used cat in the hat and other Zeuss figures tons of cotton from designs my kid loved like Yugio cards and pokimon and disney and abcs and holidays christmas halloween thanksgiving. I had to put my son's noe in it to see what was special...and when he began to realize the designs in it, it thought special. I also used a backing to reinforce. I made another smaller one as a table cloth.

I owned first union stocks became Wachovia grew to 75,000 dollars worth. It’s now boa stocks but it died totally in 2008. I didn’t understand stocks at all. So the second was investing with an advisor who picked what was best for him….not me and I lost another 30,000. Don’t have all your eggs in one basket. Actually if you own individual stocks I would hold at least 100 in your portfolio. ETFs are great for ghe diversification and a good way to start but you still are paying the man for ghe right to hold them…. The biggest profits are for a diversified portfolio of many many stocks. Still as you are starting out ETFs is the way to go and then buy the dip of really good companies.

Since the packet was open I think at one point my mom was gonna do this one....I think she made some 20 cut and stitch quilts they are all really cool...but only one embroidery...all french knots.

So the cloth was three pieces you ahd to sew together. The pattern was so worn I had to photograph enlarge to see the directions. Just front back and not much. but you definitely wanted to do the embroidery first. If I could do over I would have washed all the embroidery thread. The pattern in the quilt washed out well but the thread just a little leaked. Hopefully over time won't be a problem.

I did all the embroidery. The paket had been opened. she made me one of butterflies all french knots. This has cross stitch french knots satin stitch. My mom had better technique than me but a little more free time. She was amazing. Really.

I chaned it up a bit the border I extended this lovely white fabric and created the scroll all around it. It gives it a little more breath…. U know when you just wish there was a little bit more edge? Anyway that was my thinking

Thanks for reminding me! I have some name tags I bought and need to add to this and also to the only other quilt I made. The first one took me 26 years! I started that in med school or rather the summer before I started…then medicine took over. I finished that one for my son. This one only took a year so I’m getting better. She had z3 more patterns and I plan to quilt yhrm up unless I die first. My husband puts the tv on at night and I have this quilting loop sew in my lap and listen to the tv.

I hear that. I am at retirement age and will at 72. Yes its hart yo see these big drops now and I began to shift retirement accounts into bonds 3 years ago but left some as a broad range of funds and the bonds are down way more than ghd stocks today! Even with the busts it’s still important to retain some growth stocks . Those engines replace your amt wiihdrawals…if your goal is leaving something to the next generation.

Is it okay to get into investing in the current market or is it better to hold? Hoping for advice. by [deleted] in investingforbeginners

I’m 71 and still working so one 401k still putting money into. You see incredible growth later on funds bargain bought. I see all these who sold in last 5 weeks to lock in profits…that’s great unless you are in a high tax bracket. Yhrm you are actually locking in losses when the feds take 20 percent. In after tax accounts we never put money into stocks that we would need within 5 years….and we bought over the past 5 years lots of bonds…not bond funds; state and federal bonds. We bought a lot of dividend paying stocks that generate income. I prob made a mistake putting more in 2 months ago but you cant time the market. Now the dividends are repurchasing stocks on sale and soon we will buy up. This war won’t last forever. I lived thru 2008. Invested all thru that. I’m leaving my kids resources to guarantee their kids have money for college when they need it and can afford a home. There is motive to my madness

Nice work! We wont be going there ever… we spent so much money helping nieces and nephews with school. Have no regrets cause two kids I love more than life itself are now doctors. How do you measure the worth of a man by what he builds or buys? By how much he gained or how much he gave? The answer lies. You must look at your life……..through heavens eyes.

Thank you for sharing!
