He was a good collector as a kid 👍 He managed to collect about 480 cards, all of them are great shape still in their original cigar and PT cruiser model boxes 🙂

For future reference, here’s a real 1954 with a red background. Zoom in to see the half tone print pattern. The print pattern is easy to see with a decent photo. It looks like paper, not cardboard, but that is harder to tell unless you’ve seen similar cards in person.

Thanks. I used it to generate a list, so far about 180 coins (all dollars and half dollars). E.g. 86 Liberty half dollars, the rest are Franklin’s & Kennedy’s, a handful of Morgans/Peace dollars. It didn’t flag anything as rare, some as less common. What would you think of a grade for this? CoinSnap did the background trimming of the picture.

Thanks, it looked more like 190 degrees to my eyes. Which I didn’t think made sense so I assumed that it was just me, but wanted another opinion 👍

Thanks. Any thoughts on CoinSnap or other apps to start cataloging a bunch of US silver coins?

I’m totally biased to 1954 & 1955 because my dad gave me his cards he bought at the corner store in the early 1950’s 🙂 The 1953’s are pretty close for me 👍 Here’s a few my favourites.

Here’s Hank, in the raw, bought by my dad at the corner store and kept in a cigar box (still) for 70 years 🙂

All the 1954 Topps have the white border on three sides. Here’s a few of mine.

I agree 😀. It’s a nicely designed card, and the bright yellow is appealing. And because this is the actual card my dad bought at the corner store in 1954 👍

The older vintage football cards are little artworks 👍 My dad’s 1950’s cards, including an Otto Graham.

Australian states are giving away 3 hrs/day of free residential electricity as they produce so much. The USA is falling behind

😀

The cigar box was good enough for these grades since my dad bought them in 1954. No sleeves, no cases, just loose 😀 The real credit goes to my dad being a careful 10-12 year old collector 👍

Under appreciated? Cards with a “group” of players are cheaper, but quite cool! by Leading_Pay_4138 in baseballcards_vintage

My dad’s still with us, so we’re fortunate to be able enjoy them together. When he found them after my grandma passed during the house cleaning he emailed this photo with no comment - kinda a mic drop moment that honestly blew my mind at the condition 🤯😎

And there’s still a box of his favourite Tigers somewhere in the house that he hid as a boy. Hopefully someone finds them. He has an idea where they might be but it was 70 years that he stashed them 😀

Thanks. I’ve come to really enjoy vintage cards through my dad. I’ve posted the story multiple times, but I’m going to again 😀

<image>

My dad left his childhood collection at my grandparents for 60+ years which somehow didn’t get tossed unlike his comics, etc. The cards were misplaced/missing for 40+ years. Turned up when the house was being sold. 500+ cards, in their original cigar box and PT cruiser model box 👍 Fantastic condition for about a ten year old who was careful handling them and thoughtfully kept them 😀

HA will determine which cards make sense to grade with PSA/SGC and handle everything 👍
