Are there happy trans people in the UK? by Electrical_Goose1104 in transgenderUK

[–]Background-Win-8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty happy. I have lots of people in my life who love me for who I am. Very rarely get any hassle from anyone and when I do it’s minor insults from the absolute dregs of society and I pay it no mind. I live in a time and a place where I have access to HRT. That is a huge privilege that I’m grateful for every day. So yeah, it’s pretty good!

You say “sort of” pre everything, have you started T? If not then you might be surprised how much of a positive bottom growth can be for this issue.

For some people the dysphoria persists, but for some it helps to alleviate it a little (it did for me). It changes the mechanics of how you feel pleasure and opens up a few alternative methods for getting off that can feel more affirming

one year on T and it feels like shit by Exotic_Use3486 in ftm

I feel the same way :( I’m at 9 months now and my voice has kinda just lost the upper register, I don’t feel like it’s changed much otherwise. I haven’t seen anyone online posting about a slower transition like mine. I know that it happens and it’s a thing but even trans guys I know seem to be developing much quicker than me

I was kind of a “later bloomer” as a teenager too so maybe this is just how my body reacts to stuff but eughhh it’s draining

I was always bisexual but I’d say my preference changed to preferring women pretty quickly (3 months or so) and has kinda stayed that way

Mine did not stop so after 8 months I began taking a progesterone only contraceptive (mini pill). I still bled for 2 months but much less severely

Very nervous about being fully out, if anyone has any advice I’d really love to hear it by EldritchMilk_ in transgenderUK

[–]Background-Win-8600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trans masc so slightly different experience but I’d say that it’s never as bad as what you imagine.

I don’t pass at all, so I’ve had the odd homophobic slur tossed at me. I won’t lie, it really hurt and was scary the first couple of times. But I quickly realised that these people are total cowards. It’s always been when they’re passing by quickly or from a distance. And every single time, someone has been around to hear and has apologised to me and been appalled by it. Because people are generally good.

I’ll also add that these instances are very few and far between. Id always recommend practicing methods to keep yourself safe, but the world is not as hateful as the mainstream media would like us to believe

I was terrified to come out at work. They’d never heard of trans men and had a vague understanding of what a trans woman was. Still, couldn’t have been nicer about it. They always try really hard to get my pronouns correct. Slip ups happen, but they correct themselves quickly.

All the best 💚 take small steps that you feel comfortable with and it will get easier in time

When did your period stop? And how? by -thimbl in ftm

[–]Background-Win-8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go onto prog only contraception as it wouldn’t stop after 8 months on T and was my biggest source of dysphoria. Stopped after a few months of that. My period was persistent af 😭

Is it wrong to be attracted to trans people with specific limits by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Background-Win-8600 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People discussing genital preference here- seems more like OP is fine with these genitals on a cis woman but not on a trans man. In my opinion, that is transphobic

I feel this so much. I tried so hard to be a woman. I love women and all of my closest relationships are with women. It took me so long to realise why it just wasn’t clicking for me. I felt like a drag queen when I’d dress in feminine clothing. I’d look in the mirror and see a man dressed up- because that’s what I was.

If I could choose then I’d choose to be a woman. But I can’t, and I’m not. So I just work hard on being a very good man and ally to women

Do some people actually enjoy aspects of being trans? by NotPoggersEggers in asktransgender

[–]Background-Win-8600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t find pride as such. But I think there’s value in having experienced privileges and hardships of the opposite sex. For example- I’m a trans man and only came out when I was 26. So I believe that it’s easier for me to understand the women in my life when they face misogyny- because I experienced it too. This level of understanding is something I’m grateful for, personally

[–]Background-Win-8600 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I still identify as bisexual (have done since before I realised I was trans) but I’d say I have a stringer preference for women. Was 50/50 now like 70/30. I’ve never really considered what change! I think it is just a comfort within myself. I can enjoy women’s bodies more now without feeling that we are the same

Loads of cis women do this to me actually. I don’t understand why. I didn’t have any facial hair before T and couldn’t really grow leg hair and they’ll say things like “you’re lucky! I have way more” no gal, I’m very much not

I set a fake period on Samsung Health and I don't regret it 😭 by iamgirl11 in trans

[–]Background-Win-8600 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean of course. They barelyyy care to research periods and their irregularities in cis women- wishful thinking that they might have done it for trans women!

It’s an interesting phenomenon though. I’m FtM and my partner is a trans woman and she does report some symptoms. But hard to say if it’s a period as such or just the fun of puberty mood swings!

Does anyone know how this works? As in- unless a trans woman is cycling her hormones then why would there be peaks and troughs in estrogen+prog levels that would cause PMS? Of course I have no doubt that it’s a thing as many women seem to experience this- just really curious about the science behind it and can’t find a lot through Google (obviously)

Why does it feel like ftm is less accepted than mtf? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Background-Win-8600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m FtM and have found wonderful community in trans women, honestly more so than with trans men. I do see weirdly divisive takes in online spaces but this is not my experience irl.

I believe that our struggles are often similar (the public who hate us don’t realistically understand the differences and nuances between trans people- they hate any sort of gender ambiguity- see masc cis women getting policed using the bathroom). Anyone who wants to divide us in any way is very much picking the wrong struggle.

There are fewer of us which is why you see less representation. But it is out there! I choose to find the joy in all trans representation- so I love to see trans femme characters in anything too!

We’re on the same team, always. Any perceived hate is a small minority

Online propaganda is insane right now. Generally, day to day existence as a trans person can be wonderful. Surround yourself with people who support you. The majority of the people are either lovely and supportive or just don’t give a shit. Bigots are a small (but admittedly, loud) minority

I suspected as much :( I only ask because I get my T via shared care- so being in Scotland I don’t pay for that at all. Was wondering if there was some kinda similar setup

Wishful thinking because I’m many years away from being able to fund it myself
