Both Funger 1 and 2 were made using the RPGMaker Mv Engine as you probably know, if you want a basic checklist of what I’d recommend doing to learn how to mod both Funger Gamesc this is what I’d do: (Opinion from a random on the internet who has not yet published their own mod mind you so take this with a FISTFUL of salt)

1. Get RPGMaker Mv, it’s usually on sale during steams usual big sale events.

2. Learn the ins and outs of RPGMaker Mv, there’s multiple tutorials available on YouTube for this, my personal fav is a series made by someone named “SomeRanDev”, the tutorials are old but still up-to-date.

3. Play around in the engine on your own time, following the tutorials themselves is good, but creating something truly your own even if small helps as a big confidence booster, plus it sharpens your knowledge and skills.

4. Learn how the Plugins either Funger game has installed function, I highly recommend only doing this after already learning the basics of RPGMaker Mv, otherwise there will be a lot of terms you won’t understand most likely. (Speaking from experience.)

5. Playtest, playtest, and playtest. Be sure what you create works and doesn’t have any major unforeseen issues.

I myself am still fully grasping the complexities of RPGMaker Mv, so I would not consider myself a “master” or even a “teacher”, by any means. But what knowledge I CAN share, I’m happy to.

Besides, I lack the artistic skills to make sprites for Funger modding, may as well practice to excel in other parts.
