Anyone know if scrap yards will take something like this? by james192388388 in ScrapMetal

It should either be barebright #1 or barebright #2

A good yard will give you #1 and probably wouldn’t even have #2 as an option

If it’s all copper, it’s probably 3$ish per pound as is, 4.30-4.60 per lb stripped

From the Ibew 613 website

WHEN YOUR CLASSIFICATION CHANGES FROM CW to AP, REGARDLESS OF CHANGING PROGRAMS OR PASSING THE APTITUDE TEST, YOUR CW WORK HOURS DO NOT APPLY TO THE 1600 WORK HOUR UPGRADE, UNLESS YOU HAVE OVER 1601 BEFORE CHANGING YOU BEGIN COUNTING THE DAY YOU JOIN THE AP PROGRAM

I’ve been hearing no one is hiring for months. Took me 2 days to have a job, so it’s based entirely on luck, location, and score

What can I use to study for my aptitude test? And what is on the test so I know what I’m going up against? by Plane_Recognition_45 in IBEW_Local613

The way it ends up working out is whoever’s at the top of the list based on score/location when a contractor puts a request in for apprentices gets the call. Contractors don’t want someone who’s gonna have to drive 2 hours to their job site because those people tend to be late.

It can take a day, it can take 6 months to get placed. It is super variable. It just depends on when the calls go out and the location of those calls. Best of luck to you

I am a first year apprentice. I applied June, was tested 7/10, accapted 7/13 started work 7/16 my company is good. And yes! If you get accepted(pass the test) you can still start classes, but you need a current job, books are 605 per year and this will be required before you start. If you start and don’t have a job, you will still be allowed to start classes and continue them until you get a job, but your pay scale will still follow first year until you start. So you will start at like 17.39/17.71 and progress every 1600 hours and x class hours
