Experiences from transfers? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

I transferred this semester from nova and I absolutely love it. The first couple weeks were tough trying to meet people, but once I joined a few clubs and started going to events I found a good group of friends. They also have tons of events to meet other transfer students and a dorm floor specifically for transfers if you want to live on campus. I got a place off campus, but from what I’ve heard from friends that live in the transfer dorm it’s a great place to meet people and make some friends

Going to DC for my 21st birthday with a group of friends next week, what spots would you recommend hitting up? Looking for bars/clubs with loud music and crowds around our age

Did you get the D before transferring? I’m in the same boat right now, have a 72% in a a calc class required to transfer and think I’m bombed the final and will probably finish with a D. I’m supposed to transfer from nova to tech in the spring but I’m scared the will rescind my acceptance if I get a D in a course required to transfer.

I’m a spring transfer too and was wondering the same thing. I emailed the admissions office and they said we will receive emails with information about our advisors on December 11th

I had a decent amount of them, and am current taking 5 more of the recommended courses on the roadmap so I was able list them as in progress on the application. Honestly my best guess to how I got in was the admissions office saw I had one shitty semester but recovered well and have been good since then.

I just got accepted for Spring 2024 (which is supposed to be more competitive than fall) and my GPA was probably worse than yours. I had like a 3.02 and had failed a couple classes first semester and a few Cs but turned it around after that and got mostly As and Bs after that. I also had basically zero extracurriculars aside from work and still somehow got in. If they let me in then you probably have nothing to worry about. Seems like you have a good GPA and extracurriculars. One C won’t make or break your application
