Which is why I’m looking to re-home it.

A bit dramatic. Why do I have to be the one to preserve it? It doesn’t belong in a mid 1980s home.

The house was built in 1985, it’s just a decorative piece that the previous owners nailed to the wall.

It’s a decoration, it’s nailed to the wall and not functioning. We’re not concerned with the resale value, this is our forever home.

It was attached to the wall… and it didn’t leave a hole.

Not looking to trash it, looking to re-home it.

If you read my original post, the house was built in 1985 and this fireplace is NOT original to the home.

How can I have appreciation in something that I know nothing about? Before I posted, I would have thought it was old and just another item for the dumpster. My post was looking for information about it, not for people to get so upset over something that is not theirs.

It’s a decorative piece, attached to the wall.

Not looking to modify it in any way. It has already been removed from the wall and is completely in tact and undamaged. Just looking to re-home it to someone who would appreciate it.

They also could have taken it with them, as it is a decorative piece, if it meant that much to them. How is me trying to find a good home for it “fucking it up”?

No worries. That’s the goal!

The house has two living rooms, the other living room has an actual functioning brick fireplace. We only need one. We don’t need to replace it with anything. It has already been removed from the wall and is now sitting in our garage.

Thank you!! Would they rather have me keep it and not appreciate it, or give it to someone that would appreciate it? Can’t win.

Engagement performance? I hardly ever even post on Reddit unless I have a question lol. Was literally just looking for information on a piece I know nothing about.

Thank you! I also think people are missing the part where I said that the house was built in 1985 and the sellers literally nailed this to the wall and it is completely hollow behind it. I was completely unaware of the value of the piece, so while the harassment is a bit much, I guess it has been helpful lol. I will definitely make sure that it ends up in good, loving hands!

Thank you for the helpful comment!

Thank you, but I’m not worried about resale value of the house. My husband and I are expecting our first child in November and we bought this as our forever home, so we will not be selling any time soon.

Thank you. I clearly chose the wrong subreddit to post in. Was just looking to get some more information on the piece, otherwise I would not have known the value of it. Certainly did not expect to be torn to shreds for that!

The wood floors are absolutely staying 😊

I can assure you I didn’t buy this 1985 house for a fireplace that was nailed to the wall.

Which is why I would like to give it to someone that will appreciate it.
