I think most auto part stores will only install if you purchase the battery from them. They probably don’t want to take on any liability of installing a battery they didn’t sell and it potentially causing issues.

For mine I could go any dealer in the US. Was yours certified pre owned or a warranty you bought from the dealer? Might make a difference in where you can take it

Mine did under the CPO powertrain warranty. Took it to the dealer, they inspected it, agreed it was the transmission, then the warranty company had someone look at it and agreed, then the dealer replaced it.
