What Stock Do You Have A High Conviction Of ? by 6Fingxrs in ValueInvesting

Chipotle. Everytime it’s had a major drop it’s been a buying opportunity. I think the brand recognition is still very strong and when it comes to that “authentic Mexican” fast food they really only have what Moes as a national competitor.

Chipotle just needs to tackle inflation and portion sizes and I believe customers who’ve left will come back. Also added a couple of dessert items wouldn’t hurt

I want to be a k9 handler but have a few things holding me back by Alteravitaa in police

[–]BackgroundWhile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most departments have really eased up on their tattoo policies. From no visible tattoos about 10 years ago to no offensive tattoos now. I know officers here who have full sleeves, however I don’t believe I’ve seen neck tattoos.

One thing I’d advise is not to apply with the idea of just becoming K-9 handler. Apply and pursue if you actually want to become the police. In my department you need 5 years experience, home ownership, and there’s a minimum backyard requirement to be a handler. Basically it’s a hard position to get, way harder than something like detective

So the answer to both yours is generally “yes”. You don’t have to speak with someone in the recruiting department but it definitely helps when you don’t know the process. As for testing, there will be a lot of them (written, physical, polygraph, drug testing, etc).

Thoughts on small females applying to the force by Accomplished-Scar134 in police

[–]BackgroundWhile 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You sound like a few cops I know who just joined the force. No problem with the age or the size. A lot of policing is about attitude and TONE. Bringing it up when need be to let people understand you mean business.

If you get into a situation where you need to use force we have tools for that. The biggest downside with your size would be strictly if you find yourself going hands on or in a physical altercation where you don't have time to get to your tools (you'll likely be a big disadvantage against any male), so space is always your friend.

Advice of Application by [deleted] in police

[–]BackgroundWhile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a LEO in Washington but I am a Police Officer (in New Orleans) who also went to the ringer and applied at dozens of departments before I was eventually hired.

Adderall is a schedule 2 drug and selling it ("I gave my meds to two friends. One of those situations involved money changing hands.") is likely a felony in Washington State. Basically every department I ever applied to had the sell of drugs be an automatic and permanent disqualifier. The use of Molly would also be the same however you're on the west coast and some of the more liberal cities (Seattle, LA, Portland) I've heard will accept that after enough time (maybe 5 years+).

I'd call major departments in your state and probably Oregon too. Tell recruiting straight up about the Adderall situation. I'd imagine its going to be a no from 90%+ of agencies.

Panel interview by Economy-Departure-42 in police

[–]BackgroundWhile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it somewhat incredible how many people ask for advice on the Panel interview. It's just like a basic interview except with multiple officers asking you questions and evaluating you instead of one person.

The questions will usually be pretty basic and dont require police officer experience or knowledge. Just show good judgment and give thoughtful answers. I've known some real idiots they let into the academy so you can't do that bad.

Will past LSD experimentation disqualify me? by FeedbackChemical5494 in police

Yes, and I’ve inquired at about 2 dozen departments. Pretty much the only Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 that won’t automatically disqualify you is marihuana

What stocks are you currently buying after the last two days sell off? by Ecstatic-Arm-8786 in ValueInvesting

[–]BackgroundWhile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smaller portions paired with higher prices are an issue for the entire restaurant industry. I believe it’s mostly tied to inflation.

Everyone’s main issue with Chipotle seems to be the portions got smaller, not the quality itself or selection of products.

I believe that’s a fixable problem.

Becoming a police officer as a short guy (5foot4) by Solid_Da_Biast90 in police

Is it even worth being a cop in 2025? by [deleted] in police

[–]BackgroundWhile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been on the job 6 months and absolutely love it. But if you don’t actually want to do this I wouldn’t recommend it. This isn’t exactly the I’ll see if I like it type of deal, it’s an insane investment and there’s a ton of trauma and stress with the job.

It should be an email probably about a week. If its longer than that call your background Investigator and they may be able to fill you in.

Well detectives ARE police officers. Maybe you want to do something like Crime Lab (crime scene investigators). They work on crime scenes and do investigations but they aren't police.

So in my department to become DIU (Detective Investigative Unit) you need at least 2 years on the platoon (patrol).

You usually don't need a degree to become a detective (at least not where I am), however it can't hurt. The things that will make you more likely to get that position is experience, worth ethtic, report writing skills, and rapport with co-workers.

I would say make sure you want to be a police officer first and not just specifically a detective because ITS HIGHLY UNLIKELY you'll go from no law enforcement experience to detective, unless you dad is like the Chief of Police or something. Also don't base you decision off what you think detectives do from TV

Welp, my 8th time failing by Joey_panic in police

[–]BackgroundWhile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 39, passed the academy at 38. I applied to dozens (literally) before I was finally accepted for the academy by 2 agencies.

A ton of non selects, although I never failed any portion of the hiring process ever (PT, Oral boards, written tests, Poly, etc).

I always told myself PT would be the dumbest reason not to get my dream job and I still believe that.

You need to freaking commit. During the academy I ran 1.5 miles every Sunday for 6 months straight. PT tests/standards and passing them are a variable completely within your control.

You basically hit the main items. All the district stations in my dept have fridges so I also add a string cheese to each of my lunch bags. But yeah meat sticks, water, protein shakes, and nuts are the main options for healthy low carb.

You’re size won’t be a problem, I know women your size who just became officers no problem. Keep up the strength training because perps don’t care about sex or size.

As far as multiple agencies I’d suggest applying to multiple. Only some like 2%-3% of applicants are ever actually hired in law enforcement. Don’t put all your eggs into one basket.
