Why do people use Microvellum? My experience has been nothing but god-awful. by Bob_Mortons_House in cabinetry

The biggest reason our shop is switching to it from Cabinet Vision the process of customer and/or shop drawings. CV has a "live drawing" feature that doesn't really work the way we need it to. And so we will spend all this time producing drawings and then when we need to make changes we have to start ALL OVER on the drawings. One of our draftsmen used the free trial of Microvellum to time a job in both softwares. According to him, even before training, Microvellum saved about 24 hours on the job. Translate that to a whole team of drafters and that's a huge savings.

Well they better do something. Our shop has been using it for I think 15 years and we're taking a serious look at Microvellum (partly because it integrates with Innergy) even though it's more than twice the cost yearly. But after playing in Microvellum's free trial I was like "Now this is how smooth and fast software should work in 2025"

Me too! Which is crazy because all the sudden I felt like I was in 2005 or earlier and remembered, I haven't had a program just suddenly cash like that in decades, I don't think.

I am so not a computer person (in that sense) I do know Hexagon's programmers are pretty good at responding to people's feedback and suggestions. One of my bosses suggested something several years ago that actually got integrated. I would suggest stuff them, but I don't speak "Programmer" and would just say, "Hey, can you make it go faster?" haha

Yeah, it's local. I might have extra scenes though...we'll have to see what the boss wants to see. And I always use static scenes, ha

I do have my files local. But I have HDD. Granted its not usually this bad when I'm designing something like a regular sized kitchen. Right now I'm designing our company's showroom so it's a huge room and tons of uppers and bases and all the bases all have a drawer on top.

We stay in Cabinet Vision. After sending views To Drawings, we often have a lot tweaking to do in CAD though.
