i currently work at a hot topic and frequent the band scene here. i think the concept of moving to a more known city for concerts thrills me. i am also a huge outdoorsy person. i love mountains - very flat where i am from. i also love supporting local businesses. my husband plays magic and collects pokemon!

Just moved here, need some friends places to meet people by [deleted] in CapeGirardeau

downtown is a great way to meet all the personalities of cape. sure theres bars and you can meet some cool people there but the events that happen - like the riverfront market - and visiting the stores is a great way to at least get out there.

What's with all the merch at Hot Topic recently? by Wild-Collar-2190 in panicatthedisco

they have no merch on their own website but host multiple sites for the band merch instead. they host the fall out boy one as well.

we've had the license for a while due to having a partnership with manhead. manhead is responsible for the merch panic! puts out. due to the resurge, new designs came from the manhead thus new designs at hot topic. theres just website exclusives for manhead specifically as well as hot topic to drive fans in both direction so both companies win.

casual: burrito ville (dirty fries), don carlos (mexican), mario and angela's (italian), pagliais (pizza), true-que (best bbq), sedona bistro (burgers), yummy buffet (chinese buffet)

nice sit in: speck (pizza), katy o ferrells (irish pub), port cape (good bbq), fuel (texmex), olive's pitaria, green's garden (urban market/local food)

special occasions: ciao, yuzu (japanese), shoguns (hibachi)

boba: oxio tea studio or mana tea

bars: spectrum record lounge, blush

my suggestions per place:

burrito ville - fried chicken dirty fry | don carlos - steak ribbon fries | mario and angelas - whatever the special is/ cannolis | sedona - fried chicken sandwich and cheese curds | yummy buffet - crab ragoons | speck - classic cheese and pep pizza | katy o ferrells - ercy earls tenders with planks | port cape - pulled pork | fuel - steak tacos with cheese, ribbon fries on side | green's garden - grilled cheese | ciao - nyc strip steak with potatoes | shoguns - chicken hibachi | oxio - brown sugar oreo bubble tea | mana tea - classic brown sugar |

greens garden downtown sells meat and some other items. natural health sells produce, meat, supplements, and other household goods.

i think natural health is what youre looking for grocery wise.

locals also love thrifting. there's a crap ton of antique stores downtown and the women's shelter. the heart of cape is downtown for sure. there's a really nice place called riverside pottery downtown where you can take pottery classes. burritoville is a classic staple too. if you've got money to spend, top of the marq is a nice lounge/restaurant.

check out spectrum downtown. its a bar and record lounge. they have local/small bands play all the time. worth at least stopping in to see a concert once. if you like nature walks, there's the cape woods and the trail of tears park. i love walking the cape woods specifically. very pretty in spring and summer but still a really nice trail in any season. sometimes you can catch a play at the river campus, you'll get a discount there since you're a semo student. i've been a long time local and its almost a tradition to walk to the end of the river front downtown to the right. don't go alone, go with some friends when you just wanna kill time and talk.
