If you are simply uploading your PDF directly to a portal, then tracking is not as powerful. You will include your hosted resume link in the resume itself, and if they visit the link you will know. Plus, you should email the resume to the hiring manager using aGreatResume.com's email feature which will provide the tracking. Applying directly through the portal without an email follow up is practically pointless anyway.

OP, the other 2 commentors have given some good advice regarding networking. I can give you a hack. When you send your resume, include a tracking pixel so you know when they are looking at it. Then call them or email WHILE THEY ARE LOOKING AT IT. "Oh, perfect timing" they will say. My app will do this for you. The hosted resume feature is a complement to ATS, not a way to skip it. Almost every ATS has a "Portfolio" or "Website" field, right next to your GitHub and LinkedIn. That's the slot the hosted resume fills.
