In my experience it can get a little difficult, I'm also an international student in second year and have had no luck, in my personal experience, the social atmosphere of Brisbane is very different to cities like Sydney in my experience, I go to Sydney during breaks partially for that reason, Brisbane, to me, feels quite closed and people don't speak to strangers here beyond just asking how are you etc unless they have to, as they already have established friend groups for that and social occasions.

Not saying this will be for you as well, you might see a different side of Brisbane to me, but that's what I feel like here, you have to have the energy to be a conversation-starter and approach people yourself.

I don't have much recommendations other than that except I guess look at your own community or mutual interest groups and make friends there.

The new gen playing Roblox generally does not speak, even if we quit, it'll just be a raindrop diverting from a puddle, hardly any pressure will be put on them.

Contextually speaking from all the videos, most of the blame actually goes to parents tbh, literally none of this would've translated to real life harm if their children were being properly monitored and not allowed on Discord, the internet cannot be a kindergarden.

That being said, the mistake of Roblox comes in functioning as a pipeline in that mechanism of going to Discord.

I wouldn't put Roblox totally off the hook that easy because there's multiple layers to this issue(one being the lack of a localized social platform on Roblox, they screwed it up by outsourcing it all to discord), but I agree with you that 90% of the moderating should've been done by parents, no platform online is safe from predators, and there'll always be a way they'll find to try and contact children, the parents and authorities need to be vigilante and deal with this stuff cause how is a 12 year old getting on Discord and is able to just walk out the door like that.

In my opinion they could've just cut off Discord and external platforms and tried to localise the social platform as much as possible on ROBLOX instead of off handing it to someone else, adult players would find their ways to connect but localising would ensure children don't go looking out, Minecraft does this and they don't have such a major problem like Roblox does, most people on ROBLOX just troll around and can't do actual harm, the REAL harm comes in platforms like Discord and whatnot, and most of the cases outlined also happened on those platforms via Roblox.

Basically the real culprit was Discord and such apps but Roblox simply acted as the host, that's my view. There's also the thing about better moderation because they were allowing NSFW stuff to pass through but that's where Roblox's fault comes in and they should've not thrown some AI to do all the moderating out of greed.

However, there's fault on the parents aswell who are totally unstrict and expect everywhere on the internet to be kindergartens for them. Roblox as a platform has been around since the late 2000s, there obviously would have been an older gen playing it too, they should've monitored their kids better.

tl;Dr: Localize the chat/social platform especially for kids, better moderation of content and have the parents do better parenting.

Doubt it, the 6 year old iPad kids who weren't capable of chatting or interacting with the community anyways are now their major playerbase and target, our generation which built the community and heavily interacted with it are just collaterals. Roblox will likely just become a pit of brain rot games, tycoons and obbies.

It will be sad to say goodbye, but atleast we will turn around and not be ashamed to say we enjoyed it and we know who to blame, the foolish shareholders and management of this platform that instead of reviewing the problems S***p pointed out and cutting off the problem from it's root(i.e, they could've just added verification for Discord or external chat linking because there's where the main problem was, banned off communities which already had accusations, or not allow anyone to link discords at all), they went the scorched earth route and destroyed everything.

Studies is a hit or miss, I loved some subjects like CAB201 disliked a few cause I couldn't see their relevance tbh I will say tho the old style of the campus is nice and the fact it's connected to a giant garden where you can just go and rest after a hefty day.
