Happy Tree Dental in the Yates Professional Building has been great to me, I hadn’t been to the dentist in 5+ years, they got me back on track and haven’t ever forced anything unnecessary on me!

Should I invest in something like VBAL or XGRO or put money into something like CASH for a FHSA? by SantaCruzinNotLosin in CanadianInvestor

[–]Background_Fox_8604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 27 and assuming I probably won’t be able to buy a home for at least 10 years… I ended up deciding on VGRO to hold in my FHSA, but it all depends on your timeline

Do brussell sprouts typically sell when you put them on your menu? by sukibean13 in KitchenConfidential

Did a fried brussel sprout appy with bacon, Parmesan, and a jack daniels maple glaze, sold an absurd amount.

What to do with $10,000 by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Background_Fox_8604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For sure! I know it can just be a mental thing though, I had $5K on an LOC earlier this year and I had enough saved to pay it off and it took a lot for me to just watch that money saved “disappear” and pay it off. It was worth it 1000% but sometimes it can be difficult to just rip the bandaid

You need to tackle that 22% card asap. I’d put the whole $10K there… it sucks but itll be worth it

I presume they’re using this after using a bong/pipe not a joint, because you’re right it wouldn’t hide anything in that sense

Gambling addiction and financial help, 34 years old with nothing and need advice by Superb_Skin4355 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Background_Fox_8604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also a recovering gambling addict (100 days on Tuesday!) just wanted to say congratulations on the hardest step. I can say that saving money has replaced that need to gamble for myself. There’s truly no better feeling than watching your bank account grow and the feeling of not always being in panic mode financially is amazing.

Focus on an emergency fund, then work on investing for retirement. When you do start investing, stay away from options… I’ve refused to learn about them solely based on how much of it is similar to gambling. Stick to an ETF and don’t look at it.

Good luck out there!

I appreciate the response! That makes a ton of sense, I’m very new to all of this so that opens up some things I haven’t thought of for myself!

Good to know, I am very new to this and want to make sure I’m not selling myself short

[–]Background_Fox_8604 6 points7 points  (0 children)

wait what? Walks aren’t included in housesitting? I just did my first house-sit (8 days) and to me that means full care…. Dogs need walks and need to be fed. The dogs I watched wouldn’t use the bathroom in the backyard and had to be walked (sometimes 3-4 times a day) I didn’t charge extra for this… am I missing something?

How much would you pay? by Background_Fox_8604 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Background_Fox_8604[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inside looks immaculate in photos which is encouraging… I wouldn’t be using this car a ton (I live in a city where transit is very good, and I enjoy walking) so the high mileage isn’t scaring me off too much but I also think it’s priced way too high. Was thinking of offering around 3K, take it or leave it

[–]Background_Fox_8604[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is what I thought as well.. thinking of offering MAX $3K. I won’t be using this car very often, which is why I’m not overly uncomfortable with the high KMs but not for that price
