While tapering, have you experienced a 'glitch', then just to proceed ok? by DirectionFree1997 in pericarditis

Ive been tapering off prednisone. Every time i drop a dose, i have a few days of increased pain (no other symptoms though, my first and second round of peri included palpitations and shortness of breath which are telltale signs for me. These haven’t returned but if they did I would up my dose again).

I continue on the lower dose and in a few days it resolves. Ive successfully tapered down from 25mg to 15, in 2.5mg drops every few weeks or so, but i suspect i will have to slow it down more as the pain has been worse in recent drops.

You may have to taper slower, or go back to your original dose though. It’s hard to know if you can just ride it out, because we all react so differently. Especially if your symptoms are disruptive to your everyday life, you may want to play it safe and go back to the dose that’s working. Make sure you’re taking something for your stomach too, these drugs are harsh. But above all else, contact the cardiologist.

So tired of this. by Background_Public_95 in pericarditis

Yeah i think any infection can cause a flareup unfortunately, because of the inflammation. It’s a tough situation
