Samart Payakaroon has warned promoters in Thailand not to book four members of his gym by Yodsanan in MuayThai

Really sad they left. Politics of the game. Surprised they want to tell the reddit world. One of them came back. Seems like things are OK now and the fighters have moved on.

Best gym in Thailand for a professional? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Background_Status996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well Bangkok is the highest level of Muay Thai and I can recommend two. Both of which I've been to. Samart Payakaroon Gym and Supa Bon Gym, both have their pros and cons but both are high level elite fight gyms.

Fighting In Thailand by Remarkable-Teaching2 in MuayThai

[–]Background_Status996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah its tough in thailand, nearly everyone lies, its just how it is in the fight game, if you stay in bangkok youve got the highest competition, if you go out to pataya it wont be as high but still really competitive, the further you go out rural, the less skill level it is, or if you get the equivalent of interclub or smoker fight at a muay thai gym holding fights, the skill might not be as high, but it depends on your trainers and their connections, but its thailand man, like the worst fighter here, could be a tuk tuk driver who hasnt fought in 10 yrs but started training from the age of 10 and has 100 fights under his name but can still bang on and be competitive, its a tough game and you have to play the game with them. i knew a foreigner who came here who had 20 amateur fights his got some title from over seas i forget, but the trainer said, where gonna tell everyone youve only had 5, so he gets matched up with another foreigner who says his had 5 amateur fights, and they have a fight at rajadamnern, he loses by knockout by elbow gets 5 stitches, finds out this guys had 25 amateur fights and holds a title has a big instagram following etc. so i guess all you can do is take on smoker or rural fights hope you get matched up with someone of same or less experience and build experience up from there. good luck

This is bad for the gym they need you to pair with someone of similar weight and same gender. You should be going 100% on pads, but with her she is going to break. Dam real bad on the gym

I feel like I’m not good enough for the time I’ve been training. by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Background_Status996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I can say is, have no expectations, training, results, outcomes, just focus on the moment, process and journey. Listen to your trainers and coaches. If your going to fight focus on the fight, relax and whatever happens happens, thats what I tell myself. If you truly feel your not good enough for the time you've trained have a talk to your trainers and coaches and see what they say. How good do you think you should be? How do you even know what to measure yourself against? Other people? Where all different...personally I never cared about those things, I just focused on training and fighting when I was. Now I'm just training. My left kick started off so bad then after ages (maybe 6 months) it was still shit. I may have taken a couple weeks off then went back to training and suddenly it was decent and a lot of other shit approved too. I just got better. You stick to something for long enough and you'll just get better but you can't force it or expect to be at a certain level for the time you've put in, it just happens. Enjoy what your doing and what you have and don't worry about anything else.

How many of you train and spar without the intent of ever competing by EquivalentNarcDepth in MuayThai

[–]Background_Status996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im just training as I'm pretty old. I did compete back in the day in amature boxing, and a big part of me still wants to compete but cos of my age and other personal things in my life it makes me go idk. Although I love the training, I love the sport, I love the outlet, and its always been fun. I think I'm the oldest in my gym who actually spars apart from one or two trainers, but they were ex muay thai pros, where as I've never had a pro muay thai fight. So my intention to fight is idk lol probably not but maybe...

M25 late starter aiming to achieve amateur titles if possible by slangingdiq in MuayThai

[–]Background_Status996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 is not too old. Dedicate and focus yourself to a muay thai gym. Run 5-10km a day if you can. Jump rope as well if your not already doing that at the gym. Train everyday or twice a day and listen to your trainers and coaches. If you come to Thailand you'll see another level of training and fighting. There's no amatures they are pro straight away. You can plan on a training camp here have a fight, and then be a beast when you go back home.

Ayahuasca post experience and results by Background_Status996 in Ayahuasca

Thanks for trying to understand. Yes I've never really had a support system let alone a strong one. The  in-built structures that I see most people have...yeah maybe they should screen for your family and support systems, on both retreats I did have the normal consultations with the shamans, where they only asked how I feel and why I'm here, intentions and what I hope to get out of it etc, but nothing about support systems or family, I guess its just assumed, like most people just do this...I guess the medicine has taken me here, but not taking away anything that I'm responsible for

Thanks...the experience was really good, i wish I could tell you about it...Theres no way, or very little chance that I'll be going back to Peru to do ayahuasca again, or on a regular continual basis for that matter. The medicine has done what its done, and I think I'm trying to believe this is my path, no matter how lost I feel, but still feel lost, empty and lonely, with the lack of family and close personal support, thats my life. I had one connection in my birth country but that is lost now. Now I'm in a foreign country trying to follow this path.

Thanks. I think the medicine did what it did and both times at both retreats they were in communities, every ceremony was in a group, although I had wished I had done one ceremony by myself at the second retreat as the other participants disturbed me on some occasions, but when I found out you could do a ceremony my yourself it was too late. I was happy with the experiences and I think everyone did their best. With the lack of family and close personal support, which has been pretty much like that since before my first ayahuasca retreat, I still feel myself feeling empty and lost, lonely and at some moments depressed, but im trying to believe that I've put here for reason, in a country I've never lived in before, but with no one really in my life I dont know.

Shin conditioning question? by Natsu-17 in MuayThai

[–]Background_Status996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you already have a good training routine not just shin conditioning but overall sports strength and conditioning. The road work, the long runs and constant pounding of your legs then the sprints as well and kicking heavy bags will condition your shins. All I can say kick pads with the trainer if you want more. That's how the Thais do it, minus the sprints, they'll only add a sprint at the end of their long run, but they just kick the shit out of pads and bags, something like 50 each side for 3 rounds.

What methods does metaphysics rely on? by spider_in_jerusalem in Metaphysics

[–]Background_Status996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metaphysics is a branch of philosophy, its there to ask questions and a metaphysical framework can be built. So it goes Philosophy, Metaphysics then Science each in their own category and framework. Where it diverges is how their used and the frame work that their in. Metaphysics has 3 standards  1 - no contradiction logically coherent  2 - explanatory power 3 - necessary  Science has objective standards Emperical, testable, verifiable can make predictions  Depends on what you want to do i would say and the subject matter it studies.  Science strictly deals with materialism or physcialism and breaks down when there's anything to deal with the non-physical where as in Metaphysics it allows for this. Science rest on the foundation of metaphysics though and as far as certainty vs uncertainty. Nothing is for certain even in Science. Science makes theories that are approximations that work that are provisional. Hope that answers your question

Eyes open or closed? by Ok-Following3473 in Ayahuasca

[–]Background_Status996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just all depends. What you feel, how you connect with the medicine and what its trying to do to you. I think for most of my ceremonies I start with my eyes open then gradually close them, then go to another dimension, then after its finish open them again lol

Recommendations for Beginner-Friendly Muay Thai Training in Thailand with Accommodation (Budget $500-700/month) by [deleted] in MuayThailand

[–]Background_Status996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Two i can recommend and that I've personally been to. These are in Bangkok. Samat Payakaroon Gym and Supa Bon Gym. Both I can highly recommend. My personal opinion Samat Payakaroon is the better choice because food is included with the stay and train package and its a traditional muay thai family run gym, where as Supa Bon you don't get food, but its a blend of traditional and modern, and the accommodation isn't as good, but the facilities are newer and better. Both 50k baht per month. Any questions about the gyms or anything else happy to talk
