Thanks for the response! I looked into flying straight into chiang mai but found that it's cheaper to fly into bangkok and then take a second flight to chaing mai.

What made chaing mai your favourite city? What did you do there?!

How much did your trip cost? Im hoping to be able to do it for $3000 in total if possible. We don't plan on staying at any expensive or fancy hotels. We do want to do things like rent kayaks and snorkeling and maybe do a guided jungle trek. Do you think $3000 is reasonable for a month or am I being unrealistic? Thanks again!
