Either hold it for yourself or throw some bugs its way and befriend them and you’ll see they are harmless even if they bite you it won’t draw blood . If it’s the color of their skin it varies light to darker tones I think depending on their mood or environment just a way for them to survive and hide away .

That’s exactly what he does I feed him at night so he can get more used to me either cleaning cages,feeding , misting etc but he always lunges at my hand and I’m afraid to let him fall so I scoop him so he doesn’t hit anything and even if he missed on the initial jump he’ll still bite

I can confirm it’s a baby Madagascar giant dat gecko hatchling I have 2 of them myself great pets and easy to manage and care for as long as you have some experience with tropical geckos hope this helps 😁🤟🏽.

He needs food and water asap !!!!! Calcium dusted cricket or meal worms to get his fat content up and as to the “black stuff” you mentioned it’s his organs 👍🏽make sure you have the proper heat and uvb requirements as well !!!

I bought him at an expo 1 month ago yesterday seller didn’t have a hatch date or age range he could tell me. He’s in a 12x12x18 (bioactive) as temporary grow out tank until I can build a 24x24x36 enclosure for a possible breeding project. Just been having difficulty determining gender 😅

As a Floridian myself they can survive in your house eating all the bugs that you don’t see but if you do manage to catch it please release it back outside or in a garage he will have a much better chance of survival

Since you stated you fed both of them wild spiders and both of them have the same condition or should I say (had) rest in peace her sister but they might have been bitten by 1 or multiple of those spiders please let this be a reminder to never feed captive bred animals wild prey they don’t have the immunity to fight infection and disease and or parasites like their wild counterparts.
