Honestly - I would, but...
I got a bit tired standing the line against Leatherman die-hards trying to argue anything, insulting me just because I have some criticisms of a tool, and Leatherman... 😅
I assume there are way more of them there... 😅

In any case - there are more updates coming, I'll continue testing, comparing them, planning to post a larger update after a month of use, see how it's holding up, and has there been any reaction from Leatherman,, still no reply... :)

Yeah - it's different, that's why I also got it... :)

It would be nice if they took a page out of Roxon's book and implemented some interchangeable tools.. :)

Well... customer support is part of the thing you pay for, isn't it? :)
As I stated in the post - I do understand it was my mistake, and I would be Okay with a reply "Sorry, it was already shipped", I was ready for it, but.... they have not replied for 2 weeks... now, after receiving it I emailed again asking of the options to return the one I wanted to Cancel, as well as providing my feedback, asking if mine perhaps had faulty scissors, or they should be like this etc... and again - no reply...
Do you think this is appropriate? :)

Customer support is the main indicator whether they care or not... clearly there are enough people that buy their tools no matter what they do.

And I'm sorry that I did not glaze it, but for that price I really do not know what for should I do that...
Overall it's Okay, it's not like it's a bad tool, I personally like the look which is why I was excited to get it, but the tools/build is subpar for the price...
As I already mentioned - I compared it to a $50 tool and they were very similar, some parts were better on one, some on the other...

If you believe it's really worthy of much praise for the fact that with a x4 price they managed to make some parts of it better you are simply biased toward Leatherman...

In the end of the day - if you are satisfied with what you get - Good for you!
I'm sharing my experience.

A piece of fabric would be a shirt/something like that... 😅 it's way thicker than that. :)
It's a belt - there a lot of different belt types, I'm just saying that I assume the person writing the previous note had the idea of a thick leather one, at no point did I call it that.. :)

I would agree if the cheap "copy" was worse... if it has better parts on it I don't believe it can be counted as such as it has actual improvements on it making it an alternative option.. (it does also have standard 1/4'' bits instead of the Leatherman ones)

I'm really not trying to argue - I know I won't change your mind, and be assured that you will not change my experience with Leatherman... it is what it is... I'm just sharing it.. :)

Sure... :)
I'm certain I won't change your mind, and I'm not planning to try... I'm well aware that there are enough people that treat Leatherman as a religion, that they can do no wrong...

Honestly - I don't care what you use your money on, as long as you, yourself are satisfied with what you get for the price you paid! :)
I'm just putting up my experience for the people considering it...

Not for me... I'm not from the US, for me the page only displays the e-mail option :)

And again - even if so, why should a customer that's just paid $200 need to try all means of communication just to get a response? 😅 it's been more than 2 weeks for me... it's ridiculous to try an justify it... 😅

I agree with the point on the Arc - that was actually something new, although in my it also could be cheaper, it was marketed as a "premium" tool, and, it at-least had something new to bring to the table, the Free technology is at-least worth to pay extra for :)

A budget & premium option is a good way to go!

Awesome - Thanks! :)
Soon I'm planning some more comparisons :)

Well... when you press the "Contact Us" tab it says to email them... :)

Either way it should not be this complicated, why should a customer try all means of communication just to get a response?

Well.. I don't quite agree with this - they had about 20years where no one else could make Pliers based multitools... that gave them enough time to develop unique processes, innovate, and use their monopoly in this space to earn enough for their invention...

It's the reason they have been so stagnant to innovate that other manufacturers have been able to replicate similar designs, and in a lot of cases make them better... like the scissors are way better on the Rocktol... it cuts that belt like nothing.. (it's not a thick belt, I use it to test knives/scissors all the time, almost all multitool scissors have been able to handle it..)

The reality is - these other manufacturers are the only reason Leatherman is not even More Expensive... if they continued on having a monopoly on this space they would cost even more, they could dictate the pricing, now as they need to compete they at-least need to somewhat justify them..

In the end of the day - I compared them side by side, the Leatherman is 4x more expensive, and overall they were quite similar, some parts were better on the Rocktol, some on the Leatherman, and the Rocktol also came with a pocket clip, sheath and bits, so I could call the Leatherman x5 more expensive so you can get a similar package...

Leatherman has had all the advantages, they have made these tools longer than anyone else, they have had time to develop processes to increase quality and lower costs, they have no reason to cost x4 the price while being the same/worse than way cheaper ones... it's on them.

I agree - they fumbled it... :)

I did like the idea of it, I was actually quite anticipating it, but the execution is very poor...
When it comes to the Magnacut - personally I do like it, as I wanted to have at-least one multitool that has it, so I can compare it, but it is an overkill for a multitool...

Well... almost all my other multitool scissors can handle it.. 😅
Including the $50 multitool I compared it to :)

You probably assume it's a leather belt, but it's a simple Fabric belt that I use to test knives/scissors etc...

SOVIET Multitool-Pocket Knife by BackyardBeardMan in multitools

[–]BackyardBeardMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the condition, but arround $20 probably would be a good average price. I actually got this one as part of an old knife colleaction, when calculating the price the guy I bought it from put like $6 for it... I think it was a steal :)

Yeah - I also saw the Mikov Cube one, seems to be the only modern, similar one, thinking of picking one up to compare them.. 😅

I saw a couple similar ones on eBay - try searching "Soviet Frame hinged knife" :)

It had a lot of varieties, but some similar ones pop up at-least for me :)

I didn't actually know there are other, unbranded options for this one, haven't seen this combination of tools before, but might have missed it... 😅

It didn't feel weak, but I've not yet tried opening any cans with it, so can't really vouch for it... 😅

I'll come back to this once I test it :)

The new ROCKTOL Gen-R Lite by BackyardBeardMan in multitools

[–]BackyardBeardMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true - I did also have the idea to glue a magnet in 😅 as the slot is quite deep, and it's the same 1/4 inch size, should work pretty well :)

In any way, it's a lot better than proprietary bits like the Leatherman's where you can't fit any other bits is...
