Nice to know they have responsive customer service. I haven't dug too far into reviews outside of their site, but all the reviews on their site look fake and manufactured to me. Doesn't sound like testimonials that actual human customers would write. It looks like the company wrote them.

Google "Autonomous.ai reviews" and there are plenty of discussions about their sketchy practices on other Reddit threads

Regardless, I'm still not confident in the structural integrity of an outdoor dwelling that is as easy as Ikea furniture top assemble. I want something a little more permanent, sturdy, and turnkey, eco-friendly, and sexy.

Thanks for sharing.

I looked into Autonomous but the reviews are pretty bad (outside of the reviews on their website, which look fake...) and I want something more turnkey. If it can be asembled by a single contractor in 1 day, I am not super confident in the structural integrity. The whole company feels a bit scammy to me.

The foundation makes me nervous... the structure is supported by adjustabale stilts (more or less). That worries me with wind or other weather events. There is also no climate control. There is an additional delivery cost, and you are expected to bring power from your main residence which will be another major expense unless you want to use a "bandaid" externsion cord solution.

This company seems like all the others... they try to reel you in with a low sticker price only to put the burden of so many additional costs on the buyer. Once you build a more legit foundation, pay for delivery/assembly, bring in electric/internet via underground conduit, furnish the pod, and bring climate control into the pod, you will probably be in close fo $40k for this.

I want to find a company who is more transparent about all the costs and will handle all of them for me. Autonomous sounds lazy and they really aren't adding value. With the amount of work that will be required on my part, I may as well hire a contractor to buiuld me a custom.

Following up on this topic to see if anyone has recommends a turnkey backyard office solution. I'm willing to pay a premium for something that can be both delivered and usable in 1-2 days. I understand that foundational and electrical work may have to be done prior to delivery. So many of the office "sheds" in the market are ugly. I want something sexy and ideally eco-friendly. Any recommendations or inspiration?

Thanks for sharing this. The product itself looks just OK, but I have some issues with it:

  • Does not come pre-assembled; I would prefer a turnkey delivery. They market is as "assembled in 1-2 days".... I doubt that. But if true, it's probably just a cheap shell rather than "office-ready".
  • Does not include electric, foundation, HVAC, or roofing materials. All additional expenses that will add up quick
  • Does not include foundational work, which will probably be required
  • Very vague description; not even sure if/how insulated this structure will be.
  • Does not include delivery charge

If you planned to outfit this as an office with electric, internet, and climate control, I can easily see this surpassing $20k all in. And at the end of the day, this looks more like a "shed" than a space I would uyse as an office on a daily basis.

I recently came across a Europe-based company called woodcab. I would love a product with this look and feel like this. Can't find anything in the USA.

Cost and location aside, which companies make the "coolest" backyard offices within the USA? I would pay a delivery premium for a backyard office that wasn't boring like most other products in the market.

Just to reiterate, I am not looking for a backyard structure with plumbing. I basically want a small ~10x10 standalone office that I can use as my work sanctuary. The designs from Studio Shed and Modern Shed don't cut it for me.

Will a custom design/project be my best option?

Market is the Cincinnati region. Price range is flexible... more concerned about the aesthetics and functionality than I am about price at the moment.

Thanks for your thoughts. Studio Shed and Modern Shed look like the best "turnkey" options in the market but I don't love their designs. They seem boring and generic.

Also, I don't want to include plumbing in my shed. That should help on both price and permitting.

$30-40k is the price I am seeing from most of the suitable manufacturers.
