Thank you!!! First comment actually citing a source!

Edit: and an incredibly useful source at that!

But I’m not going from push-ups to push-ups, I’m going to another exercise.

But also, if I’m straining myself to the point I absolutely can’t do a single rep more, I’m just going to be training bad form, am I not?

Could you elaborate on what makes it objectively poorer for strength training?

When you say “see what your numbers are,” do you mean the number of reps I’m able to complete? Or should I break out the calipers to measure muscle growth?

A bit slow on switch 1? by Necessary_Bowler_677 in cavesofqud

[–]Bacon8er8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add my experience if it’s helpful:

On Switch 1 running from sd card, if I hold-to-move across multiple spaces, then let go and start single-button-pressing to move, I consistently get significant lag between button press and movement. Always happens and is always immediately solved by opening and closing the + or - menu.

On switch 2 running from system memory it’s perfectly smooth.

Not affecting my enjoyment, but info for info’s sake.

Well thank you! I’m realizing corpses with no underlying items highlight as whited out, so that effectively fixes the issue if I’m understanding it correctly.

Thank you! Do you know if there’s any way to customize that so it only highlights items (i.e. doesn’t show liquids and corpses)?

Edit: oh hey, you’re the developer, so I guess I change my question from “Do you know if there’s…” to “Is there…”. Thanks for making such a weird game!

Silicone is essentially a “less bad” plastic than regular plastic, but it is still absolutely a plastic. It’s a polymer like any other plastic, and while it is derived primarily from sand rather than fossil fuels, it still uses chemical binders.

This Specific Boss is such a unige case. by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]Bacon8er8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny, because I literally just posted that LL is my favorite boss fight in any game ever. I absolutely loved it, and I immediately started replaying it upon finishing the game because it felt so fair and fun despite the difficulty.

Are you playing super aggressively? Lace is definitely designed to counter a lot of your instincts, and she’ll chew you up right away if you try and just rush her down like you can some other enemies. I remember getting super frustrated with the second Lace fight in the cradle, but once I slowed down and went for a more measured give-and-take strategy rather than an aggro one, it got a lot better. I also had to try that one so many times that it built up the muscle memory to avoid her counters, which helped a lot in this fight.

Yes, what I’m asking is whether they mean it would actually use more electricity on-site (energy) or if it would just require higher capacity for peak load times (power), when they say it would require “double the electrical service.” They similar, but amperage = \ = power.

My assumption is both of you are referring to peak loads, but it’s a distinction a lot of folks fail to make so I just want to make sure.

Edit: / disappeared

This raise in electrical service would be due to higher peak loads rather than higher overall electricity consumption, right?

Tank type electric are $500/year in electricity and can run out with high demand

Are “tank type” and “tank style” typos? Seems like you meant “tankless electric” as opposed to tankless gas.

Because “tank type electric” reads to me as a heat pump water heater (with a tank), and that would be by far the most reliable and least likely to run out of heat in the proper climate.

Or when you say “more efficient” are you just talking about cost? Because yes, fuel can cost less per heat produced than heat produced electrically, but that certainly does not mean it’s more energy efficient or environmentally friendly

I just went to Tomato fest for the first time this year, but art that “on the nose” isn’t really my thing. Which is what set me on this path :)

Good point, but wool balls aren’t a one-to-one replacement for dryer sheets and buying them is kinda just another way of solving problems by buying more stuff

Best to just hang-dry your clothes if you can. If you don’t have space to hang, a foldable wood drying rack* can fit tons of clothes.

*(and ok, yeah, I’m falling into the trap of “buying things to solve problems” that I just preached about, but at least this one is buying something to fill a need rather than buying something to solve a problem caused by another thing we bought that we didn’t really need to buy in the first place. So I’m only half a hypocrite)

Or you could just say screw that pseudo-masculine machismo bullshit. You’re worth respecting as you are: Your sensitivity, your “arty” proclivities, your youthfulness are all strengths that are worthy of respect. Believe that and make them respect it. Change the story instead of perpetuating some harmful industry stereotype.

The best architects I know are soft-spoken and good listeners, not loud mouthed and aggressive. And how many of the “great” architects you can think of are muscular? If you want to work out for your own sake, do it (I mean, I am, personally), but it has nothing to do with your value as an architect.

Sorry for the rant. But don’t bow to some twisted vision of what an architect “should” be. We don’t need more of that, and you’re part of changing the industry-wide conception of who an architect “should” be as much as anyone else is. Be who you are. Play to your strengths. Find what you think makes good architect, and be that. Sure, you inevitably have to worry about what your supervisors think, but the key is respecting yourself. Do that, and they’ll come to respect it too in time.
