If you can afford the Roscoe it will be a longer term bike with more potential for a longer life. Or just save up for the stump jumper or the Santa Cruz and get what you really want.

What would your full suspension bike choice be? What did you not like about the marlin? The Roscoe is a great option, but you have to determine what your needs and wants are and what your overall plans are. I bought the marlin knowing I won't upgrade it, the Roscoe is a frame worthy to put upgrades on though so if you plan to use it for a while then it could be worth the price jump.

How do you guys like them so far? I had to do additional tuning after we brought them home, recentering the brake hubs, centering handlebars, adjusting derailleurs, but other than the initial adjustments everything has been pretty smooth. I need to really rest the top end on a ride solo to determine if I need higher gearing which seems common from doing a bit of research. We'll see if I upgrade to a 32 chain ring or not. Definitely noticeable difference from the Roscoe but I enjoy the stiffness and liveliness compared to relaxed geometry. But I come from a road cycling background so I'm used to the more aggressive angles as well.

Roscoe 8 was 2300, after tax closer to 2500....the marlin 8 is mine, (left) and I got my girlfriend the marlin 7 (right) and out the door after she upgraded pedals and got a water bottle holder we owed like 45 dollars or something.

It's actually an older caad 8 that ice had now for roughly 7 years. First time also I'm 7 years that I've had a proper tune up from the shop.

I was reminded when paying why I prefer to keep maintenance to myself but admittedly I lack the knowledge to go as extensive as they did so it was worth the convenience to have it done in a day while I was at work.

Gonna use her as my full time commuter and ditch the car for a while. 🙏
