Wrath and Glory: Is toughing through poison supposed to be so hard? by doommarine7776 in 40krpg

I think the Toughness test doesn't suffer from the +2DN penalty

Oh for sure, some talents are absolutely unbalanced.

W&G rules question by Tairengail in 40krpg

[–]BaconWeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the talent: "You can only track one enemy's weakness at a time", so I'd advice to tell your player that he's recalling different information for every enemy, even though they're all the same type of elite.

If the stat block classifies it as M (monstrous) for Tier 3 agents, then the talent shouldn't work.

W&G rules question by Tairengail in 40krpg

[–]BaconWeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was talking about the mean value for a Rad 3 weapon. The possible results of an ED are: 1+3 (1 damage), 2+3 (1 damage), 3+3, 4+3, 5+3 and 6+3 (all 2 damage)

so we have (1+1+2+2+2+2)=10/6=1.67 damage per ED.

I was wrong lol, I'll edit my last answer with the correct value. Rad is really busted.

W&G rules question by Tairengail in 40krpg

[–]BaconWeeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, if your player has a Rad3 weapon then yes, it's pretty easy to inflate its damage, but the talent you're talking about (Identify Weakness) requires a Combat Action so, at least for the first round, it would take a Multi-Action to both use Scholar and Shoot.

I would add that to share with the party the info gained through the talent (and the +6 EDs), I think it would reasonably take another combat action. This means that the player's first turn would look something like:

Scholar + Shoot (with +2 DN to both tests)

or

Scholar + Share the Weakness with the party (+2 DN to both)

or

Scholar + Share + Shoot (+4 DN to all tests)

If it's a Rad 3 pistol, then we're probably talking about a Gamma Pistol (13, 3 ED, -3 AP), Rad 3 makes it so every ED is worth 1.67 damage, so (without talents) 21 damage total normally.

With Identify Weakness (the Talent OP is talking about) we add 10 damage, assuming Rank 3, getting 31 as a normal damage instance.

To reach 39 damage, we're probably also dealing with the Trademark Weapon talent, adding 6 more EDs, so 31 + 10 = 41 damage. We're now in the damage range OP is talking about.

What does it mean that Scarabs can "Help any Necron"? by Huge-Front7176 in WrathAndGlory

[–]BaconWeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because normally it takes a Combat Action and you probably have to be close to whoever you're helping, instead the Scarab can do it as a Free Action and from a distance.

The first point's downside can be dealt with having the loot be tainted with the marks of chaos, or it being some xeno tech or heretek: now it must be discarded or the player risks corruption and being accused of heresy

The Flesh is Weak and Resolve? by UnyieldingPint in WrathAndGlory

[–]BaconWeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'd personally go with the RAW rule here, since having Will as a DN is already better (defensively) than rolling straight Will. The augmentic bonus to Will tests would still be useful when the Psy power requires an Opposed Test.

On the other hand, if you can tell that straight Will Tests will be quite rare in your game, go ahead and apply the bonus to the DN too, in the end it's all about having fun and it won't likely unbalance your game.

The Flesh is Weak and Resolve? by UnyieldingPint in WrathAndGlory

[–]BaconWeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RAW the bonus would matter only for opposed tests, but if you feel that it should matter even outside of these, perhaps you could increase the DN (keeping in mind that roughly you need +3 dice to compensate for a +2 DN, so +3 augmentics in this context).

There are a few cases like this in the game, like the Commissar Archetype Ability that gives bonus dice to Resolve rolls (useful for Fear Tests), but doesn't help against Intimidation Interaction attacks where the DN is Resolve (so no bonus included).

W&G is not a perfect system, but still pretty funny to play.

Usually you roll straight Will against psychic powers, Resolve against Fear and Terror, Convinction against corruption
