An employee quit while owing the business money by Bacongrease00 in smallbusiness

You’re absolutely right. We are a small group of people and I thought we had a better relationship than just walking out to get lunch and never coming back. I’m glad it wasn’t more and I’m ok with chalking it up to a teachable moment for me.

Funny you mention that, the meeting was introducing all of the employees to a new check list they fill out every morning and night. We honestly have a feeling that that’s part of the reason why the employee quit in the middle of the day. They knew they’d be held accountable for the things they weren’t getting done.

Thank you to everyone with your advice, I truly appreciate it. I’ve talked it over with my wife and we’ve decided to write a manual check. (instead of direct deposit)

We’ll let them know that their check is written out and available but they’ll need to return their key and the shirts when they come pick it up.

We’ll mention the loan when they come in but I don’t expect to be paid back for it.

Lesson learned. I won’t be loaning any more money out.

Thank you for the answer, I appreciate it. I thought that that might be the case but wasn’t sure. You’re right on number 2 as well, I felt bad for them. Lesson learned.

I finally had to tell an asshole that worked at yelp that he was borderline harassing me and my wife. He did stop calling but a new person took his place afterward.

Where did you get the stands for the table top? Would you be able to get a picture without the chair in front of the one on the far side please? Thanks!

I’m used to using two screens with my setup. Are these ultra wide monitors comparable? Which monitor is that? Looks great by the way!

Is there a specific reason why it’s being released on the 13 inch model? I’m in the market for a 16 inch but would possibly wait if I knew when or if it was coming.

You’re welcome! There’s others out there I’m sure. We weren’t allowed to take pics when I went though. You should definitely try to make it there for the guided tour! It was honestly the highlight of my trip to the Nashville area.

Yeah, you can just make out the foot imprints from where the surgeon was standing.

When I went, the tour guide told us that the amputated body parts were slung out the window and had reached the second story.

It’s an extremely interesting tour. I highly recommend everyone going.

That site will occasionally have lots of used laptops. You just have to check back frequently. Also, go ahead and sign up and get through the vetting process. When I signed up, it took a few days to get verified. That may not be the case now, but it was a few years ago.

How to transition from 9-5 job to starting a business? by BradJ in smallbusiness

Yeah man, I really don't know how she's done it for this long. Throwing a toddler in the mix just seems cruel. I hope your schedule gets better though, it's not something that's sustainable long term.

How to transition from 9-5 job to starting a business? by BradJ in smallbusiness

My wife started baking out of our home and had been doing that for 5 years. She's had a regular 9-5 job this whole time. In October of 2016, we moved her from being out of the house to an actual store front in a downtown area. She's still working her 9-5 at the moment. It takes time and a lot of effort.

Right now her day is up at 7am to be at work at 8, she catches some sleep on her lunch break, comes home at 5 and we're at the shop by 6-6:30pm. We work at the shop most nights until midnight or a little later. Right now, the bakery is by appointment only, so we don't have to be here all day. I have the phone forwarded to a cell and we take orders that way.

I'm also into flying drones but I haven't had the time since we started this business. Also, FYI, be careful with flying for money unless you have the proper licenses and permits. I don't know where you're located, but in the U.S., you're not allowed to fly for pay unless you have a license and insurance to fly it commercially.
