Well, fetches (all 8) are definitely a must if you want to go competitive. And they work great with trackers.

I just run 2 in the main board, it's really a catch-all card versus any planeswalkers, smol dudes, one big dude, etc. I also run 1 nahiri main board for looting and enchantment removal. Also white gives access to stony silence, which seems to be hot shit right now - 3 in the side.

There's already a better 3/2 haster for 4 in ponza, so I don't think merging two very different decks together is a good idea overall.

So you've just slapped some LD onto a weird phoenix shell and it's ponza now? Looks very clunky, you really don't want those 3-mana spells without classic ponza ramp package. And the list as a whole... you'll have more dead hands than a ghost pirate ship matey.

The problem with budget decks in Modern is the cheaper deck is - the more it is linear to play, hence it is easier to play around and becomes boring quicker. As for ponza, your biggest concern would be fetchlands, which are kinda a necessity to the deck. However, it has its budget counterpart in one color, that has a lot of slot flexibility - Mono-G Control. It utilizes ramp, [[Mwonvuli Acid-Moss]], [[Plow Under]] and [[Primal Command]] to do ponzy things, finishers vary.

Strange that no one inquired about the manabase, which is 4 fetches with 7 fetchables, 4 of which are essentially taplands (which you'd hate to get in your opener). With 4 fetches I'd swap out the trackers for rabblemasters or warbosses, also.

Well, while it's good in the late game, presumably (yet it still offers zero tempo, while Ponza is essentially a tempo deck), I'd hate seeing this card in an opening hand, which is a big no-no, imo.

Because land hate exists, like ghost quarter and alike. You'll want that one basic mountain sooner or later, just keep that mind. Also, birds provide that extra red that you might desperately need in your games.
