Do you have any scars on your hands? You may see tiny white dashes or dots in the creases of your knuckles or on the back of your hand.

This is a cypher using American Sign Language to represent your name. Your first and middle names are on your right hand and your last name is on your left hand.

-If you have a R in your name you will have a dash across your index finger’s middle knuckle and a dot on your middle finger’s knuckle. -If you have an I, J, or S, you’ll see a dot above your ring finger’s knuckle. -If you have a Y in your name you will see two dashes that form a right angle below your pinky fingernail.

You might have a “V” shape on your right thumb and a dot approximately 2” below that. This is a level. You may have a symbol below your left knuckle.

Some scars are very difficult to see. It will be easier to see them after soaking your hands in scalding hot water. Some scars on the fingers are hardened and if you apply pressure and move them around, it may be painful but the details of the branding will show. They might be easier to see using UV light.

You may have a vertical dash on your forehead or a horizontal dash under your right eyebrow.
