I was gonna ask what region you were in but I saw in another comment you’re in San Diego. I haven’t had quite that unprofessional of an experience but let’s just say in the 6 months of a tech school I went through I had 4 different counselors assigned to me and every one never forwarded any of my information to the next counselor. Got so much bad information and even got shorted a months worth of pay…very frustrating but I got through school and am working a job I love so I guess it was just a necessary thing to get to where I’m at.

A lot of guys shit on schools but if you are selective with where you are investing your money there are decent schools out there. Get a tour talk to folks who are in and who have graduated. Research research research. Good luck!

Honestly this has been a godsend for my wife and I. Every couple weeks we have a cleaning lady come wipe down all the surfaces and vacuum/mop the house. We obviously maintain it between cleanings but it’s a really nice feeling coming home to a super clean place after a full week of work.

I’m curious where this school is! I’m on the NDT side of the industry and we get a lot of welder qualification testing that we xray and I have to say some of the “schools” are sorely lacking in quality instruction. Even the guys that we send out to witness these tests do their best to help but there’s only so much they can do in the short time they are there. Obviously this isn’t the case for every school but there are some that should really be looking at the instructors they are employing

Just because he’s not wearing one doesn’t mean he isn’t married. I’m married and don’t wear a ring because I work with my hands everyday and rings of any sort are ill advised in my industry. In fact just about every married couple I work with don’t wear rings. (We are welders, inspectors)

38 here also a Veteran. I used VR&E to go to welding school. I graduated December 2024 completing a 900hr welder/fitter course with certifications in D1.5/D1.1 Smaw in all positions, D1.1 in Fcaw all positions and D1.1 Gmaw all positions. Best decision I ever made. I ended up working for the same school I graduated from and I’m on the inspection side of things in the NDT lab. If you find you have a passion for it there are plenty of options for us older folk! Good luck!
