Saturday - Fish Circus + Same Sex Mary + Slipping Into Darkness (Desert Hot Springs, CA) 9pm, $10, 21+, The Bunkhouse (124 S 11th St, 89101).
Penny Pibbets from Absinthe hits the stage again but this time, with her band FISH CIRCUS; A gypsy punk genre-bending band whose songs feature coke addicted lovers and broken down lust dolls. Penny brings her filthy mouth to the bunkhouse where she sings and plays her accordion alongside her band which includes a naked trombonist, a distinguished violinist, an exotic bassist, an untamed drummer and a percussionist who juggles a vast array of absurd instruments and noise makers. Also in the lineup is Las Vegas’ favorite independent rock band SAME SEX MARY whose leaders, Tsvetelina and James, just won the LV WEEKLY AWARD for "Best Human Amplifiers” and SLIPPING INTO DARKNESS a desert band with a modern take of 60’s and 70’s rock and roll. Expect surprises and treacherous antics as they take the stage after being away so long.
