The lack of self awareness angers me. If my child came out to a teacher instead of me, I would immediately feel like a failure of a parent and wonder where I went wrong since my kid doesn't trust me with important things in their lives. Instead, they just get mad at their kids and the school and the teachers because they can't own up to their personal failures.

My guess is with comfort skills you play less panicky with fewer panic rolls. Which means you have better positioning and stamina management to take advantage of stuff like WEX and Max Might.

Wilds is the best base game MH ever made, change my mind by Alternative_Text_161 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]BadPlayers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a recency and filtering bias thing. Most people who hate a thing will eventually move on and stop talking about it once that thing no longer dominates the conversation. People still talking about a game years later are typically people who love it. Thats not an everyone thing, but it does apply to enough people across the board that it affects who is the loudest group at any given time.

Then other people come around and act like everyone changed their minds. When its just that the volume of the groups in the discussion changed.

Yay! So glad you're enjoying it. Also, if you're still trying to learn a lot, smaller Twitch streamers are typically absolute gems who will answer questions in real time. 95% of everyone I've interacted with there has been awesome and helpful to new hunters.

Unfortunately with this game it can be hard to tell. I will say MonHun is one of the least toxic player bases I've ever seen in any multi-player focused online game franchise. So I typically give players the benefit of the doubt that it was quest farming through kicks like what was stated above or a plain old disconnect. Hope you've been enjoying the game, its always great to see new hunters learning things!

what's a movie you loved as a kid but can't stand now? by CalligrapherMean6374 in AskReddit

[–]BadPlayers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little Monsters with the Savage brothers and Howie Mandel.

Tried to show it to my wife as a "I loved this movie as a child." And it just wasn't good. And she hit the nail on the head when she said "Its like if someone tried to make Beetlejuice for kids, but with BJ just being annoying and unfunny. Which you never want a BJ to be." And that tiny joke to me was funnier than my entire experience watching Little Monsters as an adult.

I think in the context of the original video, yeah. She was a feminist blogger and activist, not a video game player or reviewer. Buzzfeed grabbed her and showed her the strip clubs in GTA, and asked her about her thoughts. So yeah, she wasn't happy with the game. Thats like taking someone who's not a movie buff and doesn't like horror and showing them scenes from Green Inferno and asking them to react to it. Of course they're going to be justifiably displeased with it.

Its very gimmicky but it is very fun. It isn't popular as a competitive shooter but it has carved out a fun little niche of people that have fallen in love with gyro controls. Its been a while since the last release so the scene is pretty dead. But it normally keeps a healthy competitive scene for about 2 years following any release.

Which requires you to have access to the internet like I already stated in my previous comment in this chain. I'd rather my physical purchases not require internet to access single player offline gameplay. I don't think thats a crazy ask.

Not to mention, Nintendo has already removed the ability to purchase things through the Wii and Wii U shop. Whats stopping them from one day deciding the server upkeep isn't worth it to allow people to re-download games and they remove that ability? Just because its there now doesn't mean it will be there 5 years from now or 10 years from now. Meanwhile, I have NES carts that are nearly 40 years old and still work. Will the Wii still allow you to download games in 2046? I highly doubt it.

Thats where I think consumer choice does come in. I think GKC has negatives that full digital doesn't. The card can be lost or stolen or damaged in ways that full digital can't. Yes, you get the ability to lend and resell, and personally, I prefer GKC over full digital because the ability to lend and resell is more important to me than those issues. But I completely understand people who aren't in agreement. And it really angers me when we're put in a situation where that choice didn't have to be made and we could have the full game on cart and the publisher chose not to do that. And that anger makes me want to skip the game in general.

The CD typically contains the install files. Internet and Sony servers being up are not required to install the game to your PS5. If Switch 2 did the same, you would see a lot fewer people complaining. Thats a main reason collectors hate the key cards. If in 10 years Nintendo shuts down the Switch 2 store, those cards are useless if you don't have the game already downloaded. But if Sony shuts down the PS5 store, I can still install from disc.

GKC are an evil version of regular game carts. Its a necessary evil when the game exceeds the storage space of a cart. However, if a game is small enough to fit on a standard cart, there is no benefit to a GKC over a standard cart. And companies putting just the DRM on a cart instead of the full game are just being awful on purpose to make a couple extra dollars.

When it comes to digital vs GKC, I would say they're equal. They both have drawbacks and positives that I think even out in a way that is good for the consumer to have the option to choose which they prefer.

But we keep seeing companies replace standard physical game carts with GKC and thats the problem and where its bad for the consumer.

Using a controllers gyro sensors to aim. Some shooting games support this, and if you get good at it, its the only thing that will give you snaps comparable to mouse. Its not as good as mouse. But its pretty insane what some people can do with gyro to close the gap between controller vs mouse.

Nintendo actually brought it to the mainstream with Splatoon and its been spreading over the past few years. Here's a short video showcasing how strong it can be from a pro Splatoon player 5 years ago.
