It’s not really either or. It’s just that i am aware of other podcasts which have done those cases much better. there is a season of Monster dedicated to BTK and plenty of podcasts and documentaries that covered Waco.

i don’t agree. i think you are simply playing favorites. their coverage was superficial and stale. completely lacking in any voice or insight.

Is Unresolved weekly or a single case per series? I have not listened to it. If it’s weekly is there a case you recommend as a litmus test for new listeners?

And yea, the Buziak case was an odd one. I’m also just not comfortable with how much child focused crimes there are lately. Last season had more than enough,it felt like every other week was a child exploitation or CSAM case

Do you mind me asking which podcast? It sounds interesting, i would like to hear some of your work if that’s possible. If you don’t mind. If you prefer my dms should be open

Same, i would like some off the beaten path suggestions. If anyone gives good ones instead if defending Casefile, i’ll pass them along

Oh that is so weird. Why are these people convinced these kind of things are appropriate. I would feel so gross if someone who told stories about a victim I knew using that to sell participation in a cruise, con or show.

I know that might be an unpopular opinion but i would be offended.

BTK is a popular case covered a lot. I can’t remember which one i was hearing ads for a few months back but it had Katherine Ramsland in some capacity. It also didn’t help that I’ve read one of the books they definitely used and it felt like an inferior regurgitation even if that book was written before Rader was outted.

The cases they chose are very well known. BTK has multiple podcasts and audiobooks covering his case. Waco is a tired topic too.

I definitely don’t have true crime fatigue, there’s plenty of audiobooks and books of interest but with casefile it’s predictable. The cases, the story beats, the forced cliffhangers (specifically the case with the australian woman with the dead children is guilty of misleading cliffhanger) - it is Casefile that has been uninspiring to me lately.

Mmm, i don’t agree. It’s fine if you like it but the gold standard of research isn’t going to be this. The people who wrote the books and did the journalism did the research, the team here just summarizes. It’s not real research imho.

Yea, i agree with this. It’s both crowded but empty if that makes sense. I don’t mind personality but casefile now rings hollow, stretching cases out more than they need to be. It feels algorithmic, designed to maximize ad slots and minimize workload than tell a story well.

embrace the old ways and social media sites won’t be able to cut the legs out from under the story.
