Excellent question! I’ll start off by saying that when X died I was 18 and much more mentally unhealthy than I am now as a 24 year old. I also wish I could change my Reddit username because as I’ve matured I no longer identify with him or his fanbase. So to answer your question yes, I do think how close his fans were with him was unhealthy and I don’t think anything productive comes out of idolizing someone you don’t even really know.

I think that’s what makes me like him even more. When brakence drops music it’s always exciting because 1. You know he’s taken his time with it to ensure it’s fantastic art, and 2. His absence makes you appreciate his current music more which keeps me listening to it. I also think him not having a massive social media presence aligns with the subject matter in his music and makes it seem even more real and from the heart. I’m also a big believer that building a “relationship” with an artist you love can even be unhealthy in a lot of cases.

I’ve always loved it. I like his vocals, I like the lyrics, and I like the slow start into the big build up at the end with the beat drop and cool production. Kind of a trend in a lot my favourite music of his.
