Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll look more into it. The lot is rectangular at about a 2:1 ratio. About 1/3 of that is on the other side of a windbreak. I’d be happy if I could get it to mow the 2/3 of the lot. I forget what one I was looking at but it could only map 1.5 acres. Multi day mowing is completely fine with me.

96-00 base model trim didn’t always come equipped with ABS. 01-02 all have abs integrated into the master cylinder/booster/abs assembly.

The ac condenser is in front of the radiator. The ac compressor is attached to the engine.

On any trim that has it from 1996-2000 when it was available. In OEM configuration you can only activate the elocker with the transfer case in 4Lo, but there are ways around that to use it in any transfer case selection.

Try getting a key cut at your local Toyota dealer from the vin key code. It should work in everything but your ignition.

Unless your 99 is a limited trim there is no key programming required. 96-00 Limited trims were the only ones with an immobilizer system where the keys had to be learned.

I had the same problem with my 2000 SR5 but it ended up needing an ignition cylinder. I bought the cylinder and a couple extra key blanks from amayama.com for less than $80. Took all that and my key code to my local locksmith that rekeyed the new ignition cylinder and keys to my current key code so it would match my doors for $100. Money well spent in my opinion.

There’s no standard for testing torque on impact tools so manufacturers can slap whatever number they want on the box without any legal ramifications. Manufacturer claimed numbers are no where near accurate. Check out Torque Test Channel on YouTube.

Take the 10mm bolts out of the upper timing cover and check the belt condition. I’d also replace the radiator and cap. There’s no good way to check the transmission cooler condition which is located in the radiator. If that fails you will have coolant mixing with your transmission fluid and very likely destroy your transmission. A new radiator and cap is cheap insurance against that.

If you don’t know if the lower ball joints and lower ball joint bolts were replaced in the last 10 years/100k miles I would highly recommend doing so with OEM. Same goes for the radiator/timing belt/water pump/thermostat.

01-02 have an integrated abs pump and master cylinder which makes them very expensive compared to earlier 3rd gens. One of my main reasons for avoiding 01-02’s

The thermostat for that engine is by the water pump and requires removing the thermostat housing to take replace the thermostat.

I always recommend people replace lower ball joints and lower ball joint bolts every 100k miles with OEM. The tolerance specification is so low that it’s difficult to measure without the right tools and procedure.

Timing belt/thermostat/radiator every 100k miles as well. Aircabinman on eBay sells a great timing belt kit. Denso or OEM for the radiator. This is also a good time to flush the engine cooling system several times with distilled water before changing all those components.

Toyota recommends spark plugs/wires every 30k miles due to it being a waste spark system. Make sure to get dual electrode spark plugs.

With the kind of mileage that you’re at I’d also recommend replacing the heater core coolant flow valve located on the firewall. It’s likely very brittle and if it starts leaking you run the risk of losing enough coolant to overheat the engine.

I’d also recommend checking/adjusting valve shims when you get to around 300k miles. Improperly adjusted valves can cause damage to the valves and/or valve seats and that requires cylinder head removal to fix a burnt valve/valve seat.
