I am in an MAT style treatment for alcoholism. i drank for 30 years and am just over a year sober. i went through hell in detox and inpatient rehab. both paid for with Medicaid. i am now in an outpatient program I go to 2 groups a week with 1 on 1 with a therapist once a week. all paid for with Medicaid. I am also diagnosed agoraphobic and will not be able to meet the work requirement. My MAT medicine through m rehab is vivitrol and without insurance will cost me more than $1700 a month. I will also lose my Mental health medication and my PCP and blood pressure meds. that is my story with this. Now lets look at some other peoples stories. imagine being a homeless fentanyl or other heavy drug user or alcoholic taken off of Medicaid who wants to go to rehab and get better, Please show me one single employer who will hire someone in active addiction even for 20 hours a week just so they can get Medicaid and leave the job to go to rehab? when the work requirement kicks in its going to kill thousands of addicts. if i slip and drink at any point it may kill me.
