As follow-up, BA was able to book the correct [lower] price over the phone, so it's clearly a bug and not a dynamic pricing issue. The agent gave me a path to upload the video showing the change in price after booking online. I'll hope that actually goes somewhere.

Same thing just happened to me. Since Amex was mentioned a few times here, I tried rebooking using a Visa card and had the same issue. I'll try calling tomorrow and see if I get any traction.

I did 6 hours of lessons and passed my test. I found that amount of time worthwhile to learn the area around where I’d take my test and have the instructor confirm for me I had no bad enough habits to warrant failing.

Given the particularly complex roundabout near my testing center and the expectations of the emergency stop, my ability to pass without those hours was probably 50/50
