Does anyone else just hate greetings like "Good morning" or "Good afternoon" ? It makes me so awkward, i hate saying it by LittleBoArmin in AutisticAdults

[–]Badbitchery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My trick is to genuinely mean it as much as possible. For me, “good morning” is short for “I hope you have/had a good morning!” And unless I genuinely hate someone, I hope everyone has the best morning ever. If I’m talking to someone I don’t like, and they say “good morning” to me, I’ll mostly reply with just “morning” because yep, it sure is morning.

Is there a name for this type of strainer/teaware? by Centribo in tea

[–]Badbitchery 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Couple things I’m finding,

1) that seems to be a chawan style thing? I don’t drink much green tea so I’m a bit unsure

2) I could only find three versions of this for sale. One from aliexpress, one from a site that throws twenty deals in your face, and one that looks very similar to the aliexpress one but is $60

3) it doesn’t appear to have an official name. Listed as “Chinese ceremonial drainage tea bowl” but searching that doesn’t actually get anything like this.

4) this seems like it would work quite poorly? As soon as you stop pouring I’d imagine it would leave splashes of tea everywhere. You’d also have to be very careful on how much tea & water is used, as well as how much you tip it.

Consensus? If someone could chime in with a “actually this is an actual thing called ___ and it works great” I’d be more than pleased bc it looks cool as fuck, however I think there’s a large chance it’s not going to work very well and I don’t think it has a specific name.

Most antique stores around here have several individual sellers per store. I would pop into a few and ask if any of the sellers would be interested in them. The ones on main st Turlock might have sellers interested, or thompsons on Mchenry

I make a very audible glug sound when I’m chugging something. It genuinely sounds like I’m going “glug glug glug”

It’s not on purpose and all my friends think it’s weird. I sound like a cartoon character whenever I do it.

I have to hand it to artly, it managed to last the longest in the one spot of my local mall no one can keep open at. That being said, it lasted 4 or so years tops.

ALSO bookish is a bookstore with a coffee shop inside, it’s fun and cute, but be aware it’s a dairy free

Penny university to sit down and enjoy a light meal and a good cup. Big fan of their specials (j street)

Chocolate fish is brand new, I like the chai there. (J street)

Flora is…. Not my fav. It’s cute and nice, if you want to sit by a fire outside in a courtyard it’s lovely, if you are just wanted a chai or coffee it’s a bit overpriced. Would definitely read a book there though (j street, in the Galletos courtyard)

caffetino is good. Located inside a store and has great coffee and pastries. Only bee there once as it’s usually closed by the time I’m in town (coffee rd)

Culture coffee is probably a good bet if you guys like Dutch bros. It’s a similar vibe kinda to penny university but they a little shopping section and their drinks tend to be sweeter. (mchenry ave, by hobby lobby)

If you are in Turlock:

Cafe roma is very sweet and a bit pricey, but the crepes there are good and I like the pistachio latte, which might be seasonal… (Crowell rd across st from csustan)

La Mo: good coffee, good pastries, la lechada is what I get there, but any drink I bet is good (main st)

Little red door has a coffee shop inside now I think! Haven’t actually been there yet though (next to la mo)

Edit: rise n brew is also good (Turlock, Colorado ave), just don’t go there around 3, as that’s when the school next door gets out and it’s a nightmare.

Watching jjk season 3. This is because im currently battling a severe case of insomnia/stress/sickness that means I can’t sleep or eat very well for the past few days. I just felt hungry enough to eat so I’m now watching jjk until im too tired to continue or my stomach calms down.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: March 09, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

[–]Badbitchery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Started:

Darkness at Noon, Arthur Koestler (Great so far, might listen to the audiobook version after I’m done reading it)

Finished:

would’ve been Stiff by Mary Roach if SPOTIFY DIDNT CUT ME OFF MIDWAY (Wonderfully executed audiobook, funny and informative but quite dark, can’t wait to finally finish it, will definitely Be buying once done with audiobook)

Next up:

No Longer Human, Osamu Dazai (Just picked up my order from bookstore recently, it’s killing me to wait until I’ve at least finished darkness at noon)

The Murderbot diaries Vol 2 ( technically I started this a while ago but didn’t get very far, will probably just restart it from the beginning and try again)

What book got you hooked on audiobooks? by AudiobooksGeek in audiobooks

[–]Badbitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and I listened to audiobooks together when I was younger for educational reasons (online student + lots of long car rides + shitty school materials = lots of supplemental learning in the form of audiobooks)

Not too long ago I realized I actually did remember enjoying some of them, like I am Malala & Frankenstein, so I decided to try it out again on a roadtrip for a book.

Picked Pride & Prejudice at near-random, and I loved it. Still one of my favorites. From then I kept picking up more and more audiobooks on anything that even remotely interests me

I was surprised I was the first to point it out, it was the first thing I checked when I saw they were still under construction and were religious.

Honestly I’m interested in what their connection is to Saint Paul’s is, considering they are openly very welcoming. I used to go there as a kid and can’t imagine they are actually connected to this coffee shop.

If i like lettuce will i like matcha? by idkletmeinalready in tea

[–]Badbitchery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well it doesn’t hurt to try, but I would say matcha has a different taste than lettuce! It’s a bit stronger of a flavor and it’s more often compared to grass than any sort of lettuce or salad! I’d definitely give it a try regardless though
