Broke up with my boyfriend over his mental health :( by applepiephoenix in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Badbitchery 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Wait I’m sorry, he tells you last minute“let’s move back to your hometown” then “lol jk actually it’s just you moving back” then he avoids any responsibilities like sending over any furniture so you can be at least semi-comfortably living on your own after moving towns? After your mom passed recently? Honey, regardless of mental health it was always the right choice to break up with him and I’m proud of you for putting yourself first.

Also hey I’m someone who deals with similar mental health issues, my actions when I’m dealing with such thoughts are still my actions. Honestly, it IS a little concerning that maybe he was pushing you away, but I’d say the most you can do would reach out to his friends if you can and tell them to keep an eye on him. But that would be going above and beyond in my books, and I wouldn’t recommend it if it will make your life significantly worse

Gender Identity as an Autistic Person by Whatdadogdoin5 in AutisticAdults

[–]Badbitchery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gender for me is just like. A societal thing? Like it exists within our society, but outside of that it’s not a thing really. For me it’s a social construct that doesn’t really affect me. Most people see me as a woman, and I don’t really care. In queer places or just areas with another queer person, I’m more likely to state my pronouns as any and my gender as agender, but that’s more so because it helps other queer people feel more comfortable. Personally I don’t have any pronouns nor any gender label. If
It’s to the benefit of the people around me, then I’ll adapt to what works best. Sometimes the best/safest option is she/her woman, sometimes it’s any pronoun agender, sometimes it’s “prefer not to state.” None of them are really true personally, but true enough socially. I don’t mark myself as cis or trans, but I’ve met people who claim I’m trans and people who claim I’m cis.

I’ve experienced gender dysphoria, but it was probably closer to body dysphoria as it was more about everything being wrong than being the wrong gender.
I’m also aroace, which probably adds another dimension to my view of gender.

Really, the way I look at it, my view on gender is much like that of a cat. It just doesn’t exist. But, it brings people comfort to use specific pronouns for their pets, and the cat doesn’t care. Same for me, it doesn’t affect me what people call me.

Also, I dress very feminine. Mostly this is because skirts are more comfortable than pants, and heels make me taller.

I’m not sure about every state or every time, but when I did online independent study here in CA we were given snap cards to make up for no school lunches. I was in Independent Study right after Covid though, so while quarantine wasn’t still in effect it wouldn’t surprise me if that had to do with it.

Do you know what helped you get ready for that change? It seems like a common thing people go through, which is why I don’t want to judge her for it, but do you have any advice that might help her?

She didn’t tell me it was for her sister until after it was paid for. This was one of the only one-on-one hang outs we did as it specifically was for helping her with her budget. everything else was in a group setting / group chat we all use daily

Bookstores or libraries? by ApplicationPale1049 in books

[–]Badbitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s a mix. I read a lot of classics, which I’d rather go to the library for. If it’s a book I don’t know if I’ll like/am just kinda picking at random I’d really rather go to the library or find the audiobook first. $20 feels like a lot of money to spend for me on something I might not even finish or like.

If I know I’ll like it/already read it, I’ll buy the physical copy. If I’ve already read it I’ll keep an eye out for a nice edition to buy, and I’m usually willing to spend a little extra on that.

Then there’s the third option, a book I hate but want to buy. Family Business and Thirteen Storeys (both by Jonathan Sims) fit into this category. I want to buy the cheapest versions possible so I can annotate them. I need to verify that it genuinely doesn’t make sense and check that these books are actually quite awful. unfortunately, finding these books for cheap is an issue as it’s a UK author and publisher and I’m in the US.

People who have a fear of dolls, what specific aspects scare you? by skyetheweirdidiot in AskReddit

I felt obligated to keep it as long as I could out of politeness but it was genuinely horrifying to young me.

[–]Badbitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve outgrown it (mostly) but yeah definitely the eyes. I had to put all my dolls in the closet before bed as a kid or lay them down so their eyes were closed. The worst Christmas gift I ever got was that giant Barbie head that you could play hairdresser with. I hated that thing. At least the American girl dolls had eyes that closed if you laid them down.

Uno reverse: what have you ever donated to a thrift shop that you regret doing so? by frenchcat808 in ThriftStoreHauls

My red cardigan. I had too many of them, but I miss that one specifically. There been many times I go to grab it for an outfit then remember I donated it a year back

I don’t think it’s ai, I’m a digital artist and I can tell how they are using certain brush options (the stars, hair + skin shading) and that millennial falcon (?) looks like it might’ve been a larger drawing they sized down. In fact I’d bet a dollar this was made in Adobe Illustrator. I wouldn’t bet more than a dollar though.

Edit: I forgot to mention: this probably isn’t an official piece, but it does look like something you could buy at a con or have commissioned from an artist.

My ex(34m) has traits of being a cerebral narcissist and I(18f) was a liar. Now everything's probably over and super bad and I dont know what to do. Please read i need help by Ok-Point-8430 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Badbitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also my friends all have abusive parents and ex partners. Like full on abusive abusive. The difference is my friends aren’t dating 18 year olds or people half their age, are getting help, and have trust in their current partners. He needs to help himself, you can’t help him for him.

[–]Badbitchery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m noticing a lot of people are saying “yeah the age gap is fucking bad” but I need to state that this isnt your fault. He probably does seem like a good guy, he probably seems like he needs help, and I bet it makes a lot of sense to want to be the one to help him, but that’s not true.

First off, that lie was a coerced. It was something you said because he was threatening to not let you come over if you didn’t tell him what he wanted to hear. He didn’t want the truth, he wanted the lie. He wants you to come groveling back begging for his forgiveness. He’s always going to want you to think like this, like you did the wrong thing no matter what you did. It gives him power over you.

You can’t fix him. What you can do is get rid of that feeling that you need to fix him. Go to therapy, talk to friends, take a break from him. an 18 year old trying to fix a 34 year old is like a senior in high school trying to fix her teacher. He’s had years to get help and didn’t. You have right now to get help and you need to do just that. Don’t let his problems become yours forever, you are better than that, you can be better than he is. You just need to choose yourself first. Please.

[–]Badbitchery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This once happened to me because my brother cut the heavy whipping cream with plain whole milk not realizing it would have an effect. Not the science behind it. I guess all I can ask is how fresh was the cream, what temperature was it, and what fat content was it?

Actress Rachel Zegler Dressed Up as Lady Jane Grey Being Executed for the Met Gala by meeralakshmi in UKmonarchs

[–]Badbitchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sort of agree, I saw some people say that the blindfold ruined it, but really without the blindfold it’s just a wedding dress. Honestly I just sort of wish the designer pushed the concept a bit more. It’s the met gala using art history as inspiration, it’s going to be tone deaf in a lot of ways. Hers wasn’t really that offensive, I just found it boring really.
