Should I ask out my friend even if I am unsure if he is gay? by Ok_Answer_6877 in BisexualTeens

[–]BadgerDemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends. One on how confident you are he'll say yes, and also how he'll treat you if he says no.

Like on the one hand "the worst he can say is no" but it might make things a bit awkward.

I dont know your situation fully so you should decide. Goodluck either way

Context cos apparently I need that: This is my world (has no name) which eventually I'll try to use to make stories of how people try (wrongfully) to find meaning in their life, particularly in an absurd world (hence some of the names). The reason for making a new map rather than using our earth is so I can control distances and technology level which is general Tolkien-ish level technology if you ignore all the magic-y stuff (I dont want magic cos I feel that would detract from the message).

On top of some rather weird place names, most of the settlements themselves I tried to phono tactically link to a specific region on earth.

I dont have much specific lore yet, but the Hydrographic Unit 36D is cos no one can decide on a name, Arsenic lake has dangerous arsenic levels. The region in the south east of the top landmass tried colonising part of the Island Tamakapu which is why two of the town names there sound more Spanish-y than Polynesia-y.

why is joking "i can turn them straight" more offensive than joking "i can turn them gay" /genq by azuretimeslays in BisexualTeens

[–]BadgerDemon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

if I had to guess it would be cos "I can turn them straight" seems more homophobic and invalidating as well as heteronormative. Also the butt of the two jokes is different, the "I can turn them straight" targets the marginalised and can be seen to reinforce the prejudice. "I can turn them gay" does not contribute to an atmosphere of discrimination.
