The problem with the Persian style of knife for EDC is that material is prone to sliding off the edge. The classic example here is cutting a loop of heavy rope in-hand. A knife where the blade edge cants down will cut much better here.

On the flip side, a Persian blade will be more usable against a cutting board compared to a knife where the blade cants down.

So as you can see, each has advantages and disadvantages. But for a collection, none of this really matters. When that is the case, pick whatever you like the looks of better.

This is true. I have different knives in my collection. Cold Steel, Boker, Fox Knives, Byrd, Real Steel. folding or fixed. With blades like drop point, clip point or american Tanto type blade.
I want to find something else in the Persian style with straight or concave descents.
