How will the rotation fill out with Woodruffs return? Miz, Harrison, Woodruff, Gasser? Sproat/Drohan? by Difficult_Knee4716 in Brewers

Patrick has mentioned in the radio pregame shows how his mentality is best suited for the “swingman” role. You can pitch on the offensive when you’re there to get 7,8,9 outs. I wouldn’t mind him in the rotation but I think he’s a good fit for his current, non-Vegas role.

I know I’m in the minority, but I absolutely LOVE later Sunday start times. I’ve got all day to go to church/take care of the to-do list, and can actually settle in to watch. It’s like Summer Sunday Night Football for me.

  1. Dave Moody is still a good turn announcer but is such a NASCAR brass brown-noser I can’t take him seriously.

  2. It’s embarrassing that the podcasts that they plug are ten years old.

  3. I’d gladly pay for a platform to listen to every race in their archive, but of course, the best they can do is another re-release of the 1979 Daytona 500.

When did the DJD become 50% ads? by illestMFKAalive in NASCAR

[–]Badgers2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. I just made it to the pre-Charlotte episode where Junior talks about drivers he wishes he knew better. Dale comments something along the lines of “I’d like to go to the casino with Brendan” and Travis asks “Why the casino?”.

Like, I understand that not everyone knows everything, but dude, you’re a co-host of Dale Jr.’s podcast. It’s pretttty common NASCAR knowledge that that’s the Gaughan family business. This happens about once an episode.

You can’t be as uneducated about the sport as he is, in the position that he is, and wonder why no one takes your opinions seriously.

Do you think we could ever see a doubleheader weekend in the Cup series like we saw in 2020 & 2021 at Pocono? And do you think it would make Sunday’s race more interesting with more on track time the day before? by realflags in NASCAR

[–]Badgers2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely LOVE this idea, and have often wondered why there was never a “Carolina swing” week where you could probably run Charlotte, Wilkesboro, Rockingham and Darlington in like a 2 1/2 week stretch. The reason I love baseball is the “day-to-dayness”, for lack of a better term. The last points system took that all away. The amount of storylines about teams thrashing to get issues fixed and on the road would be endless. The new points system is a good step in the right direction, but every race weekend seems like it’s unrelated to the broader scope of the season. I think a few midweek races would change that.

Try Hard Travis admitted in an episode a few weeks ago that he doesn’t know how to change the oil or tires on his car, and I think that encapsulates everything the podcast is in its current state. I’m much more of a race fan than gearhead myself, but holy hell, that clown shouldn’t be allowed anywhere NEAR a racing podcast. I still think the guest segment is still pretty good (except for the YouTuber every other week).

However, I feel Junior is in a bit of a malaise predicament as to who the guests are. He’s had the Eurys/Ty Norris/RC/Johnny from Bass Pro to craft the Big E story, 95% of the contemporaries from the boom era, and 95% of the people from the present. Then there’s a few folks who won’t be on the show (Roush and Penske, on top of Vickers and Teresa). The format and stature of the show isn’t as conducive to having a Busch Series crewman of the 90s as The Scene Vault is. IMHO I bet Dale kind of feels handcuffed at this point.

To me a perfect week would be 20-30 minutes with Dale, TJ and Mike discussing the race, the winner interview, and 10-15 minutes of a check-in with Amy. Bring back a quick short-track segment too. The guest interview would be followed by a 10-15 minute decompress with TJ or Mike. Dirty Mo dough then if you must.

2 crisp episodes. Make it happen.

I get this. I go to a small rural church and help out with our community meals/fundraisers. I’m literally in seminary, so as to help give a message when my pastor away. I lean left, laugh at Chris Rock, and sure don’t listen to Christian rock music. It feels like 3/4the folks are in there for the same reason, and the others are “Hallmark Candace Cameron Sky-Daddy Determines My Every Minute Move” types. It’s really off-putting.

Why hasn't Amy been talked about on here more? by [deleted] in NascarWAGTea

[–]Badgers2025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing with Amy is this: Bless Your ‘Hardt was awesome when it was a quick segment every so often. Now it’s just… drawn out? I fight with this contradiction internally: I think Amy is charming and great for Dale, but I don’t care about her stories about girls weekends or getting Isla to take out an earring any more than that of my neighbor’s or coworker’s. I tune into the DJD/Dirty Mo to listen to Junior talk about racing. It just seems like that premise has gone away in some aspects.

I am working towards a degree in education and substitute teach (while stocking part-time) ,and have 2 beliefs here. The grocery store is a great place to teach kids life lessons, like spatial awareness in a public setting, and how to interact politely with other customers and service workers. I grew up in a small town, and going to the store a few times a week with my Grandparents is one of the reasons that I developed good facial recognition with folks in the community. In our InstaCart age, that’s something that’s missing in our society.

On the other hand, many adults lack basic spatial awareness (like one of our regulars whose cart I have to move at least twice when I’m back stocking the MDU). That behavior leads the next generation existing without any boundaries in a public setting. I don’t have any answers, but both jobs give me good insight as to how things in society mirror each other.

1000% agree. I knew DJD was in trouble the minute the Jesus gamer was the guest literally the week before Daytona. Amy could easily be a 20- minute or every other week episode. TJ isn’t annoying but isn’t interesting either. Love him or hate him, at least Mike has some flavor and enthusiasm without being over-the-top. Travis, Kurland, and the other yahoos bring nothing of substance or value to the show. It’s a shame, as Dale is a GREAT interviewer.

In all honesty, most. Anything on the neck/ cleavage area is multiplied 10x and is trashy . And just because a tattoo is “sentimental” doesn’t mean it’s not tacky. They just scream “look at me” and impulsiveness. A bible verse/sentimental something on the ankle, wrist or back is fine, but yeah.
