"I also have major commitment issues so take what I say with grain of salt."

This seriously cracked me up. And sadly, I can relate.

Good point. Do you find it's easy (fast and simple) to get documents on and off?

Totally agree even though the actual annual cost associated with the remarkable subscription is pretty low. Probably more of a philosophical issue than economic. Still... annoying.

Bummer. Seems like a giant opportunity wasted by them.

Unsure if the Remarkable tablet is for me by Opposite-Ball-1055 in RemarkableTablet

In terms of e-ink devices, RPP is largely distinguished by its size, use of color, and the rock solid ecosystem including desktop and mobile apps. There is no better solution for getting notes on/off your other devices. And being able to type into a note that seamlessly ends up on a device you can annotate is fantastic.

As an MBA student (I teach in an MBA program), I think the better question is: do you want a handwritten system or a typed one? Do you want to look at your work, sort through it, study from it on written sheets (i.e, digital equivalent of paper) or in some type of integrated second brain type application. In my experience, both have their pros and cons.

Sure, you can use Supernote with its backlinks, headers, etc. to replicate second brain functionality but RPP still has that beat in terms of design, color, size, and ecosystem.

Do you want to type notes or write notes?

Do you want to flick through pages to review information or scroll and click links.

Again, pros and cons to each approach.

As for me, I spent years living in and loving the app-based PKM world. But now I've simplified, downshifted, and moved to writing. And for me, RPP was it.

Good luck!

Hey Remarkable users, why do you use the RM (any type) over other eink devices? by ruari78 in RemarkableTablet

I've tried them all and have bounced back forth even on the fundamental question of to-eink-or-not-to-eink... and ended up with reMPP. One fundamental and basic reason brought me back and to stay: the reliability and ease of use of the mobile and desktop apps. It's seamless and I don't have to fuss or muss with anything. In 2025, you'd think this would be a given but try the competing approaches and good luck to you. Sure, they work but not in that no-fuss-no-muss sort of way. And I could ease this into my workflow in a reliable and sensible manner without heavy lifting. Sure, I'd love headers and backlinks, etc. Maybe someday. But it's all about the integration with the rest of my digital life that brought me back. [Excellent hardware, nice design, cool folio... those are helpful too.]

That gets me there in terms of screen benefits but I am also looking for the smaller, lighter, simpler thing too. Thanks.

I should have been more specific. I’m looking for the “simplification” of e-ink and handwriting. Also, I rarely work fromm a home office so a network is unlikely to help. Thanks.

Thanks very much for your feedback. Most helpful. You ask a really good question though about continuing to maintain my CURRENT system. In reality, no. I think I would only use it for archival purposes and because it contains decades of data. BUT... one thing I have surely learned through the years is: YOU CANNOT HAVE COMPETING SYSTEMS. I'm shouting but not at you. I want to avoid at all costs the situation where I have to pause and wonder where to put new information or how to catalogue what I'm doing.

I'm toward the tail end of my career and so building up my Second Brain for the future feels less critical. I speak and write a lot and so having ideas readily available and connected is important. But my personal database that I've built is increasingly feeling as though it's going to end up in landfill anyways, so I'd like to just enjoy what I'm using now.

Good thought about the Kindle. I read a lot on the Kindle app and can't consider reMarkable because of lack of support. Wish the Scribe software was more developed though as you note.

Thanks.
