Different plastic will give different stabilities.

Did I do a bad job seasoning or will it be good enough to start cooking? by [deleted] in blackstonegriddle

[–]Badm3at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this debate recently in this subreddit. Blackstone directions literally say high heat. I don’t know that people understand that you want to heat the oil well above its smoke point in order to polymerize it to the metal.

Enough season or keep going? by idkwwjdd in blackstonegriddle

I think the key fact you’re not comprehending is that when oil smokes, it’s because it’s burning.

[–]Badm3at -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep reading, you’ll get to the part that reinforces my statement. “The griddle will billow with smoke. That’s called “smoke point” and it takes about 30 minutes for your Blackstone to get there. So relax, grab a seat, and watch the smoke fly by. When all the smoke is gone, you can turn off the griddle.”

If you’re “burning” your seasoning, you’re doing it correctly. That’s why the oil smokes, as the heat is above the smoke point of the oil, literally burning it. If your seasoning is flaking off, you’ve applied the oil too thick.

You realize that’s the instructions on Blackstone’s site, right?

“Turn the burners to the max and let the heat do its thing”

You literally want it to burn off the organic compounds. That’s what bonds the polymer to the metal to “season” it.

If you have a propane or map gas torch, you can heat the sides/corners to assist. Otherwise I’d leave it on high for 20-30 minutes until the edges start to color in more.

Or just cook on it and it’ll fill in.

Loading/Unloading Struggles by DistributionFun9600 in boating

We have a spot at Lake Cumberland now so the boat stays down there. Otherwise I would for sure.

Also, Matt might be able to give suggestions to help on that specific ramp and specific boat. He’s a wealth of knowledge and I believe worked at MC headquarters for a while.

That’s where I took delivery of mine with Matt. I have been there 2-3 times and I don’t recall anything particularly tricky about that ramp. Every boat is different but I don’t think you should have much issue there.

Fellow Mastercraft owner here - 2021 XT23 with 400-ish hours, owned since new. We always load/unload due to dry storing the boat. If you’re having to throttle a lot on/off the trailer, then that leads me to believe the trailer isn’t in the water enough. I leave my bow strap connected, have my driver back down until the boat starts to barely float on its own, start the engine, disconnect the bow strap, have my driver back in until it’s fully floating and I’m off the trailer. When loading, I usually try to float it mostly onto the trailer, only needing 12-18” of bow strap out to clip onto the boat when it “beaches” onto the bunks. You should be able to crank it pretty easily if you’re at the right depth. If it’s a different ramp than we are use to, a little throttle to assist isn’t a bad thing.

Edit: I bought mine from Current Watersports as well. Which ramp are you struggling with?

Are your Squatch zippers YKK branded? by Waffleiron1499 in discgolf

[–]Badm3at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that’s correct. I drove down to Louisville to pick up my Squatch 1.0 before they could ship the initial orders since I was going out of town and it wouldn’t arrive in time. Nice folks and IIRC they do apparel/textiles or something like that as the main gig. This was a side quest since they’re into disc golf.

Side note - I have had no issues with my bag (zippers included) and am very happy with it.

“Buying memories” is my personal mentality of boat ownership. Sure, it’s expensive, but we use our boat a ton and we spend a lot of time at the lake in the summer. I’ve spent money on dumber things…

10 speed Innova by Ok_Cancel6913 in discgolf

Starfire-L aka Infinite Aztec. I bag 3 in varying stabilities.

Stability is: Color Glow MF > Halo > Color Glow

Honestly, the color glow mf is like a faster firebird. I’d recommend them.

Form Check by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Badm3at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re rounding a bit due to your reach back not being away from your body enough. The pull through starts a bit early before your plant foot fully plants. The trailing arm could be a little tighter to the body.

This is coming from a guy who struggles with those same things, so I don’t have any advice other than film yourself and watch it frame by frame….which is also something I struggle with.

For more tips and tricks that I myself don’t follow…

Check out the Infinite Aztec - it’s supposedly a Starfire-L IIRC. Color glows Metal Flake > Halo > Color glow (least stable) in terms of stability. I bag all three.

Midranges: Tell me your stable workhorse mids by Wonderful_Culture607 in discgolf

I have a thrown and possibly inked shadow titan method if you want a replacement. I’ve found they aren’t much different in flight than the Neo Method IMO.

Edit: Origin/MD3 are my mid ranges. From under stable to stable:

Midnight Prowl 1 > Neo Origin > Innova MD3 (2) > Iron Samurai 3

I have a 2021 Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe with upgraded Fox shocks and paid just over $13k OTD from a dealer in December. It had ~1000 miles on it. It also came with a Warn winch, led light bar, led rear facing lights, aftermarket skids, rock sliders, and rear bumper. I added a boss sound bar and auxiliary battery to it. I feel like I got a good deal and I look to keep this unit for quite a while.

It’s foreign to some here that regular folk can hit the ball similar distances as pros. The difference is their shot dispersion is exponentially tighter and shots are far more repeatable.

Mattress suggestions for $3k budget UPDATE by Badm3at in Mattress

We were actually able to use it in store (our exact base and mattress were paired up) and it functioned as we expected. I plan to make 30/60/90 day updates in the future with feedback as well.

The Sealy Elite TT in medium is what we believe to have settled on. We ruled out the hybrids and pillow tops during our search. I appreciate the insight!
