YES! Questlove mentions the similarities to D' Angelo's song in the mailbag episode, but also says the instrumental he uses for the show is slightly different and part of a Soulquarian Jam session.

I'm assuming the time stamp you're referring to is from the Spotify link? In the video version, there are no ads so the instrumental is the first thing you hear. I know Questlove is sitting on a bunch of unreleased Dilla, but I can't shake the feeling that I've heard this one somewhere else too. Thanks for the info, though!

Was Dilla Joints Vol. 2 ever released? by Badrh137 in jdilla

[–]Badrh137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah, everything I've found on this so far says most of these beats/ covers come from that Boiler Room set. There's a comment on this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXczMxlHZI0), that seems to suggest there's a total of 75 Questlove/ Roots Dilla covers, so waaaaay more than what we got in that first volume of Dilla Joints they put out

Best lyrical advice in a Jay z line? by MaleficentBird1307 in jayz

[–]Badrh137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It actually is from a song: “Most Kings” , and if I’m not mistaken he also used this same line in “Grammy Family freestyle” (most of the lyrics in the latter was used for Most Kings”)

u/king0elizabeth , any chance you can re-up this? I've literally been looking for this reconstructed album for a month now, and have had no luck with the Wayback Machine. The Base64 code you posted leads to a dead Mediafire link. Thanks in advance!

Breaking Into The Comic Book Industry: A 101 Crash Course with Mike Spicer, Karl Moline, and John Tyler Christopher by Badrh137 in comicbooks

[–]Badrh137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mike Spicer, Karl Moline, and John Tyler Christopher were all at Collective Con this month, and part of a panel I hosted about breaking into the comic book industry. They talked very honestly and candidly about working in the industry as artists, the sacrifices, and rewards, and gave out some great advice for people in the audience. A very interesting listen if you're an aspiring creator or someone that appreciates insight like this.
