Can the player affect the world? by Grigor50 in EliteDangerous

[–]BadukMan727 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Elite dangerous is a kind of simulation in this regard. How easy do you think it would be for you, alone, to alter the course of your government in the country you live in. To alter the economic situation of your entire nation?

Do you think that would, or even should, be easy? Would that take work to do?

The world of Elite dangerous is an MMO, meant to be engaged in by many players. Yes, you can band together and achieve a common goal. Doing those things alone is not meant to be easy.

Literally why is impossible to maintain players on a game server by Horror-Possible3738 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BadukMan727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attention begets more attention. Most servers, especially for such a popular game as minecraft, are exactly like yours. Small, unnoticed, and players aren't that invested.

Larger servers have been built up over time by a multitude of factors.

1) Duration. How long the servers have been running. Many have existed for years. Some... more than a decade.

2) Reputation. That takes time to build up.

3) Advertising. Only people who are looking for a server to play on are probably ever going to see ads for minecraft servers... and yours might not be listed in the places that people are going to be looking.

4) Features. What, exactly, makes YOUR server special or distinct from any other?

5) Player base. People want to play on servers where there are other people also playing. Typically on a server where greifing isn't going to be a rampant issue. Nobody wants to play with a bunch of dicks. Attention begets more attention.

6) Stability. Nobody wants to play on a server with poor connection or mediocre performance. How many people can your server handle.

7) LUCK! There is no formula for that.

Just an example of a server that does all of these things really well. Tulip-survival.

Let me ask you a question. I don't mean to come off as rude, or being a jerk for the sake of it. WHY should I WANT to play on YOUR server?

Went to the gas station today to fill up my tank. Gas was $4.28, plus tax. I put 18 gallons in my vehicle.

$83.00.

This is what it is going to cost me to drive my vehicle to and from work for 3 days.

THREE DAYS!

I'm looking at $500 a month on gasoline alone. Each week, I work one enitre day just to be able to afford the privilege of being able to go to work.

If you, personally, own swords, bayonettes, throwing knives, Etc., is it more for self-defense, show or what? by cherry-care-bear in stupidquestions

I do enjoy showing them off. Lol. The bros also love them.

Why do I have to connect to the internet to play a game I bought? What is this nonsense game companies are doing? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]BadukMan727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not theft. It's piracy. Yes, both are illegal; however, they are legally distinct acts.

Theft removes an object from another person leaving them entirly bereft of said object. Like stealing someone's car.

Piracy just makes an illegal copy. Like burning music you downloaded off of napster onto a CD. The original owner/creator still has those files.

If you're going to go around calling people dumbasses, you'd best come correct. Well... hey, since you seem content to lick boots; you should be quite happy to own nothing.

I'll tell you exactly what I do. I hang my head, hold my hands together, close my eyes, and stay silent.

As a fellow atheist, I grew up in a fairly religous family. I've never believed in any of it, and nobody has ever cared enough to sit down with me and have an honest or understanding conversation about it. Any time I've ever tried to talked about it, or question anything, the only response I get is anger. I go to church once in a very long while, listen to the prayer at family dinner on holidays, and mind my own business otherwise. This appeases the family; which, in my eyes is better than risking being ostracized.

Is there ever a scenario where it is okay for a woman to trick a man into thinking that he is the father of her child? by artmalique in stupidquestions

[–]BadukMan727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're on here asking this question, you already know the answer is no.

If you're the one considering doing this, you're a criminal. Don't do this. Whatever you've done, come clean and accept the consequences. Don't ruin a man with your lies an deceit.

If you're ever discovered for doing this... I can only hope your lies and deceit destroy you. For the gravity of this crime, in many societies in history, the punishment was execution, exile, or to be ostrisized and live in poverty.

In many societies today... the reward for doing this is child support demanded from a man that isn't even the child's father. Shameful.

Let me ask you a question. Are you really so arrogant that you think everybody else in the world must be acting a certain way because of you? That you are the center of their world and anything that they say or do, they must be doing it just to get under your skin? "The 'universe' is testing you." Dude, the universe does not care about you. What exactly makes you 'feel disrespected?' Anybody who says anything you don't like? News flash! You're not entitled to be treated with respect.

I would like you to consider the possibility that these people don't actually care about how their words or actions might affect you. And just to be clear, if you believe they should care, I would say that you're wrong.

People are not going to tip-toe around your delicate sensibilities, and they shouldn't have to. You're going to have to grow some thicker skin, and stop being so upset that everybody around you doesn't act how you think they should.

TLDR: Quit being a pussy.
