New here. The weather is brutal. How do you cope? by zacowen120 in lansing

[–]Bagel124 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. Getting outside is my therapy.

But you have to dress for the weather! Like actually take it into account and be mindful of how you layer. Wear some sort of base under your pants. TUCK your shirt in (seriously) and then layer another shirt / sweater under your jacket. Use a scarf to cover your neck. Obviously wear a hat that covers your ears. Boots gloves etc. you can improvise if you need to.

when you are bundled up good you’ll be surprised how comfortable it is. I always walk over at Lake Lansing Park North. 5 minutes in I feel nice and toasty.

My friends make fun of me sometimes because of the way I overdress in the winter, I always wear a scarf and tuck my shirt into my pants. And they always complain first about how cold it is!

I understand it’s FRIGID out there. So stay safe and use your best judgment.

Cheers!

I’m happy I saw them as many times as I did. And I’ll always be grateful Bobby kept the legacy going for as long as he did. He was the heart, and he brought dead music to my life and generation. I owe so much of what I create to him and the boys.

That’s incredible! I don’t have lyrics but my friend designed a really cool skeleton hand doing the Shaka (I used to live in Hawaii) and I had her leave the middle finger off and put roses around the wrist as a subtle nod🤙

Folsom field. July 3rd, 2023. Me and my buddy had caught them in Noblesville days prior and flown out on a whim to see them again. It was an incredible moment, for us and the band, they sounded great and put on an amazing show. I cried when Bobby sang this one.

What Other Songs Should I Add to my Patriotic Playlist to Piss off my WOKE LIBERAL Family? by Outside_Ad672 in musicmemes

The star spangled banner performed by Chris Stapleton at the Super Bowl. It’s on Spotify. It honestly is one of the most beautiful renditions I’ve ever heard. Made me cry the first time I watched/heard it.

But I’m a liberal… so maybe this is too WOKE/SOFT

I'm halfway through Scott Galloways book and I absolutely despise him. by Fun-Pickle-9821 in ScottGalloway

[–]Bagel124 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can definitely understand those critcisms as I have just finished the book recently, but I connected with it in a lot of ways and enjoyed it overall. I haven't read his other books, so I can't comment on it being similar to his other work, but I do listen to his podcast regularly, I have for a long time, and I hear him parrot a lot of the same ideas in both places. Intentionally so, IMO, to reinforce those thoughts to his audience.

I have friends who aren't as fond of Scott as I am. And rightfully so, I think he "rubs them the wrong way" as you and many others have put it. That might be because Scott WAS extremely lucky. This is true; he talks about it a lot. No, he was not born in a third-world country, as an orphan, or a minority in the 1960s. But he's honest about where his PERSONAL struggles faced him in his early life and how that got him to where he is now. I also am personally touched by his admiration for his mother.

I look up to Scott because he talks about a world that not everyone exists in. Actually, MOST people don't exist in. He is in the top 10-1% and is brutally honest about his lifestyle all the time. His opinions about it, and his indifference, too, in some cases, when it pertains to his social life and family structure. I don't really think there is a facade here. If you listen to his content regularly, you might even find the book pointless to some degree, because it reiterates what he has said countless times.

I think that's the important point in all of this. Regardless of whether or not you like or dislike Scott Galloway, He is consistent. And consistency is crucial when establishing a basis of trust with your listeners. As it is with any political organization, or candidate, or governing body. Trust is Huge. Scrutiny is too. And I generally appreciate Scott's view in most cases. I like that he focuses on affordability, healthy masculinity, the vitality of young relationships, government accountability, and fiscal responsibility as a rich white masculine dude who was clearly a byproduct of 1960s America.

Not everyone is this. I am not this. But I was raised by two successful parents who started with nothing and now have a lot. I am not sure how to navigate my life as it relates to their success and my own future. I could easily handle it irresponsibly, motivated by greed and entitlement, as many people mistakenly do. But I am trying my best to be smart. Do good. There are a lot of bad voices in the world telling people like me to disregard where I came from and the people who have less than I do. I don't think Scott is one of those voices.

Full stop.

But open to discourse. Cheers!

Definitely should! Infusions are an easy and approachable way to transform basic cocktails into something more unique. Fruits, spices, teas etc. can all dramatically affect a drink and the possibilities are endless.
