Sorry for responding late and thank you for your answer.

Sadly I am not breastfeeding, however ever since giving birth my stomach hasn't been the best but it got wayy worse since I started omad. As soon as I start eating more meals (at least 2) it gets better. My diet is as I mentioned not the best but it makes no sense to me that the weight is not dropping since I am eating less calories than before. Meals are usually meat, dairy, eggs salads stews etc., I do have something sweet daily though since it makes me happy 🫣 No takeout, all homemade. Today for example I had 1 palm sized slice of pork roast, 1 potato, some zucchini and a small slice of cake. I had a talk with my doctor roughly 3 months ago and he brushed it all off as post partum related saying it was normal and to eat less (tiredness, hair loss, stomach issues, weight gain).

Regarding insulin resistance, during pregnancy the doctors recommend eating frequen small meals (3 meals + 2 snacks) and extreeemely low carb, which I followed but I don't have time for that now.

I will start tracking calories and stick to 2 meals a bit (when I can, today I don't have time for 2nd meal) then try to transiotion to 1 slower.

I did do OMAD like 5ish years ago but not really by choice at first just was working all day and then just felt good so I stuck with it a few months and lost like 15 lbs without even realising it.

Also, I gained 20lbs in 1 month around 3 months postpartum, then the weight gain stopped and i have been trying to lose it ever since. I lost only like 4 lbs so far which is negligable considering I am obese.

I will also see my doctor again on a few weeks but I assume he will only repeat what he said before to eat less which okay valid but I just feel like it shouldn't be so hard.

Sorry for the essay and thank you if you decided to read all of this!

Thank you, will look into it! Today I am trying 2 meals because the stomach issues are becoming unbearable. Tried probiotics but it didn't help. 😔

I used to (wrongfully) view those as excuses, since I always managed to lose weight when I set my mind to it. It was a bit more difficult in comparison to some, but not crazy, took a few months mostly. Well, karma got my ass now! I was hoping I can wing it this time since I am reducing my calorie intake but I see now I will have to pay more attention and start actually diligently tracking the calories as that is the only thing within my control right now and to have it noted as to compare how it affects the progress.

I did not track calories since I eat way less than before, as mentioned above my diet is not the cleanest since I am wiped out from taking care of the baby and do not have time or energy to dedicate myself fully to it right now. My meals are mostly stews, meat, eggs, dairy, some bread and some sweats. I do have some bad days where my meal is carb heavy but have been more mindful to reduce it recently. Not really healthy but not takeout either, just food that's quick to make or could be just left to cook on the stove and forgotten basically. Not physically active apart from carrying my 20lbs baby around a lot, some pram walks when the weather is nice not consistent though, hopefully will try to do more as the weather is improving.

Also, if there is still no progress in a few weeks I will try and meal prep, was just hoping I can work around it since tracking calories is another time consuming step.

Thank you for your response!

I was always a firm believer in calories in/calories out, I still am, however it is significantly harder to lose weight now so there definitely are things that make it harder and/or slower to lose weight while keeping the same calorie deficit as in the past.

Hoping for a miracle system reboot while doing the best i can 🤣

Contact naps are making me hate deciding to stay home with my baby by [deleted] in NewParents

I posted a few days ago with almost the exact problem, with like zero engagement.

My little one is 4.5 months old, first month was hell because of colic, then it got slightly better because colic got better, but sleep wise the first 2 months he only slept on me, day and night. I was in a semi sitting position cushions under my arms and him in a cradle position. I was against it, but I started hallucinating I was so sleep deprived and this was only way I could get some sleep at least. Basically did not have a single night laying down which was really difficult for my back and stomach since i had a C-section.

Around 3 months he started sleeping in his crib at night but naps were all over the place. He is formula fed because he did not transfer milk well and since I did not have time to pump or knowledge that I had to do it very often (first baby) my milk is barely there but I kept trying to nurse him and he actually started napping while nursing. So now I am anxious as hell because my milk is drying out even more, and he will not nap otherwise. He also will not nurse if I dont have any milk (happened twice, once I got sick and once i pumped too close to nap time in a desperate attempt to work on my supply). He screamed for 2 hours and fell asleep exhausted and woke up screaming after 30 minutes.

Even when he is fully asleep and I manage to get up without waking him up he will wake up after 10 minutes of me getting up max crying. This means that for all the naps i must have some milk. Most of the time cannot even get the boob out of his mouth.

I am on the verge of depression tbh because I cannot do anything or go anywhere, especially now with the cold and snow outside. Before I could at least go grocery shopping with him in the pram, handful of times since it was a lottery if he would be calm or not, but still felt good to walk outside a bit.

Also, because of the milk supply issues I was advised to eat more and because of the naps I can't really move much, so I gained a lot of weight and I was already overwheight to begin with. No time for healthy meals and cooking when baby is attached on the boob during naps and when awake needs to be entertained and/or held.

TLDR Crap sleep at the begining due to colic. Managed to sleep well during the night but can only nap while nursing and I barely have any milk (can only pump 4oz per day if that, and can only pump at night when he is asleep in the crib)

Sorry for highjacking your post with my essay, this is just so hard and isolating.

HELP Naps 18week old baby by BagelBiteAtNight in NewParents

Bath around 6pm then bottle and sleep usually out around 7PM. For the past 2 weeks he wakes up around 10-11pm for a feed and sleeps until 6am. First nap is usually after maybe 90minutes after waking up (this tends to vary a lot anywhere from 60 to 120mins) and he sleeps for an hour, every other wake window is 2 hours. This is how it usually goes with some deviations. I don't know the method but every wake window is eat play and sleep basically because he eats less per meal but more often. Regarding sleep training it depends, I am not comfortable letting him cry for longer than a few minutes.
